Writing Travel Articles: Tips and Examples

If people who work for a custom writing service are asked what travel writing is all about, they will say it is about taking a reader on a journey. A good travel article will inspire readers to explore new places and experiences, so they can open their eyes to new cultures.

For those who don’t know how to write a travel article, it can be very tricky to know where to begin. According to professional paper writing services, writing about a place means talking about things like food, music, people, landmarks, and more. Below is a look at useful tips one can use to produce a top-quality travel article.

1. It is important to have a storyline

When university or college students are writing a travel article, they need to make sure that their story has a series of events that will interest the readers. Climbing Mount Everest, for example, that’s an interesting story to tell, but one can add more spice to it by adding events in between.

These events can be things like experiencing bad weather, losing bearing, things like the hired coach to get to the mountain running late, and more. Writers need to make sure that readers are engaged and need to pick events that will tell their story properly.

2. Writers need to ensure that their content has an end goal

There are some trips that people talk about in their articles that have what is known as a physical objective. These physical objects can be things like reaching the Grand Canyon or crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. When readers are given a goal, there’s a very high chance they will read the article from start to finish. Some trips might not have an end goal, but they are about discovery and meeting new people. Overall, an end goal needs to be created so that readers are heavily invested in the content.

3. Edit the article to match the story

When writing a travel article, it will have drama, suspense, well-written characters, good pacing, a nice plot twist, and dialogue. These are all designed to grab the reader's attention and when the storyline is established, writers need to gather the right experiences and fit everything in while getting rid of the rest. The majority of travel articles are around one to two thousand words long, meaning a writer will produce between 20-30 paragraphs on their papers.

4. A good first paragraph is super important

Professional writing services say that travel articles can be started in many forms it is all about the writer, however, the introduction needs to grab the reader’s attention. If the introduction is badly written, it can put off readers from finishing the content. To successfully write a good introduction, writers need to put themselves in the reader’s shoes and ask themselves if they were the reader, what sort of introduction would they be glued to.

5. Dialogue needs to be included in the article

“Hey look, the lion is stalking its prey” whispered Chisomo. Another example of dialogue can be “We could see the lions from a distance hunting their prey”. These are the sort of sentences that a paper writing service writer needs to put in their article because they bring scenarios to life.

Dialogue also gives personality to the people in the story and helps sell what is happening. When one is traveling, they need to make sure that they pay attention to everything people around them are saying. The more authentic and accurate the dialogue the more credible an article will be which ultimately gets readers engaged.

6. A writer needs to know the difference between “tell” and “show”

Plenty of expert writers always say that there is a difference between telling and showing. These are two very different ways of getting a story across, and many people don't realize that. When a writer slows down their story and explains scenes in detail, this is known as a show.

This can be what the writer felt at that moment, what they tasted, what they heard, or what they saw. The art of telling is where the writer pushes the narrative forward. To ensure an article is of high quality, a writer needs to switch between the two.

7. A writer needs to produce an entertaining article

Expert college paper writing service writers say that people who don't have a lot of experience writing this sort of article often think using complicated phrases or big words is the way to go. This is not the way to go and not the tone this type of article should be about. Writers should seek to entertain readers because no one wants to be bored reading a piece.

8. Proper language needs to be used to talk about the surroundings

The environment one is in can help tell the story they are trying to convey to readers. Words such as diverse, incredible, bustling, and stunning need to be used a lot. These words can be applied to a variety of destinations across the world to paint a clear picture to the readers. Using as many of these words as possible is highly advised according to professional writing services.

9. Signposts need to be left in the article

Each paragraph needs to let readers know the next direction the article is heading. Readers need to be reminded of the article’s goal, for example, a writer could write something like “The day after we traveled from London to Manchester”. The reader here will see where the article is going next, and they'll have every reason to stick around.

10. Provide a good conclusion

Many writers always try to go for the big finale, which can often leave readers dazed and confused. It is advised to slow down and start putting the conclusion pieces together first by leading them slowly to the finish line. Show them that the story is coming to an end, rather than just hit them with the ending.

Final thoughts

Traveling is a wonderful hobby for those that have the money to see different parts of the world. For those who cannot afford to visit some of the world’s most luxurious locations, reading about other people’s experiences can be just as exciting. The tips above will help any aspiring writer produce an impressive travel article about their adventures and let readers see things through their lens using words. Even writers, who have been writing travel articles for many years, can suffer from writer’s block and find it hard to express some of their ideas. This is where essay writers come in who will help bring those ideas to life.

Why Now Is The Best Time To Refinance Your Home + Tackle Those Home Renovation Projects

To say this year has been a wild one is quite an understatement! Many of us have been spending days on end at home trying to work, do virtual learning, and keeping ourselves safe and healthy. One of the things we have been doing is tackling projects around our house. For the most part, they have been small things like replacing old door knobs, purging closets, and cleaning out the yard and storage rooms. It's been wonderful having all hands on deck to help with these tasks. It's a great feeling when your home is organized and clutter-free

We do have some big projects and wishlist things that we would love to get done that definitely carry a larger price tag. Our home is very old, so we want to do some updates on the inside like kitchen counters and cabinets, as well as remodeling our master bath. We did some research and saw that mortgage rates are pretty low right now so we figured a refinance with some cash out would be the way to get those renovations done. We quickly realized that we haven't done a refi in over 10 years, and definitely needed to lower our interest rate and have a smaller monthly payment

We have been doing some virtual shopping for what type of counter tops we want, as well as cabinet finishes. I am beyond ready to trade out our 70s look for something modern. I know that all-white-everything trend has been very popular, but I am really thinking about going slightly more traditional with darker cabinets and white counter tops or even the opposite. Our kitchen is small, so it is imperative that we choose the right colors so it doesn't look or feel smaller. Since this project will be the most expensive, we will have to really sleep on it so we make the best decision for our household.

While we think about what we want to do with the kitchen, we already know what we want to do with our master bathroom. We plan to remove the old tub and replace it with a shower only. We aren't bath people, so why even have it? My husband doesn't know it yet, but I also want to get some fancy wallpaper for our bedroom to do an accent wall behind our bed. I feel like we can do it ourselves, but he will probably wonder what's wrong with how it looks now. Men don't really care like that. HA!

I am definitely looking forward to some modern updates in the upcoming year. Since it looks like we will be staying at home for an unknown amount of time, we might as well fix things up so we can enjoy it. Have you done any home renovations or updates this year?

Essential Basic Tack For Your Horse

You've got the horse, you've got your horse-riding duds, but now you need to get your horse dressed, too! There's a lot to think about when buying tack, or horse riding gear, for your horse and many pieces to consider. We'll help break it down the basics so you can be confident in each piece you pick out.

Getting Back on Track

The first piece of equipment most people think of when it comes to horseback is the saddle. Saddles are generally leather and can be pricey, but shopping at discount horse suppliers can help you find a good deal. There are a number of styles from western to endurance to dressage, but a general purpose saddle will suit most recreational riders. Always check with a professional to fit your horse.

Underneath the saddle will sit your saddle pads. Saddle pads come in all sorts of options and are really your chance to try out some fashionable horse tack. They come in all sorts of colors and fabrics, though quilted cotton is quite popular as it is breathable and helps wick away moisture.

In addition to these items, you'll need a girth and stirrups. Girths wrap around your horse's belly and come in several materials such as string, nylon, synthetic, or leather. Whatever you choose, make sure its comfortably suits your horse and saddle. Stirrups hold up your feet and consist of a leather strap and an iron foothold. You should always begin with correctly-sized safety stirrups, which will have an elastic at the side.

Get Your Head in the Game

When it comes to horse's headgear, we're not referring to braces and expanders; we're referring to bridles, reins, and bits. The bridle, buckled straps encircling the horse's head, are attached the the bit, a (generally) metal piece that sits in the horse's mouth, and the reins, all of which are used to control the horse.

For your bridle and bit, you'll want to make sure the style you choose suits your horses head size and shape. Narrower straps for smaller, more delicate horses and wider straps for larger animals. If you event, make sure to check that what you purchase will fit within the restrictions and guidelines of what is appropriate wear. Additionally, you may need a stronger bit for more strident purposes such as jumping or hacking. Reins come in a variety of materials and rubber or lined rubber can be a very good option for a good grip.

These basics of horse's tack will get you started on outfitting your horse properly, and soon both you and your horse will be dressed to the nines and ready to run.

Tips on How To Feel Safe When You Live Alone

People that live alone usually consider themselves to be independent and resourceful. They enjoy having the freedom to come and go as they please and make all the decisions. However, there can still be times when loneliness sets in, or even concern for their safety. If this has ever happened to you, it's time to fix it. Here are four ways to feel safe when you live alone.

Check Your Windows and Doors

When considering your safety, it's a good time to check all your windows and doors. Make sure the windows have locks and that they close securely. Add curtains or shades to any window that doesn't have them to avoid anyone keeping tabs on you. Check that your doors are secure and have them repaired or replaced if they feel anything less than solid. If you've just purchased a home, have the locks changed.

Get a Dog

You've heard it many times before, but getting a dog really is one of the best measures you can take to stay safe. Plus, they're terrific company and champion breed German Shepherd puppies will give you years of loyalty and unconditional love. This breed is highly intelligent and trainable. Unlike a security system, a dog can go almost anywhere with you, protecting you when you're out walking or in the car running errands. A dog will soon become your best friend and you'll wonder how you ever managed without one.

Add Outside Lighting

Another precaution you can take to deter anyone from lurking around your property is to implement additional outside lighting. If you have a yard, consider adding spotlights and ground lights especially in corners and darker areas. Motion sensor lights are also very effective in keeping people at bay.

Have a Lot of Company

One way to combat loneliness and feel safe is to have a lot of visitors. Encourage friends and family to come over for dinner, coffee or to just watch a movie. You'll enjoy the company and neighbors and passersby will notice a lot of traffic. This helps give the illusion that you're not alone and that there are plenty of people around you.

Get Peace of Mind

While living alone certainly has its perks, it's important to be safe. No one should have to feel anxious about their wellbeing. Things like adding more lighting, getting a dog and improving your locks will keep you secure and give you peace of mind.

How to Choose the Most Reliable Long Distance Mover

Moving is a major aspect of life; at one point, you will either decide or be forced to move due to several reasons such as career prospects, need for a bigger house, a new environment, among other reasons. Regardless, moving is often meant for the betterment of both you and your family. However, moving is usually an arduous and time-consuming task, which can be hard to accomplish if not done properly. This is true if you are conducting a long distance move, such as moving to another state or across the country.
Such a move is not only more costly, but the risks of possible damage are much higher when your belongings are being transported over a long distance. This is why such a move requires serious considerations and planning to ensure that the whole process is completed smoothly without any hitches or losses. Arguably, one of the major factors to consider when planning a long distance relocation is the moving company that you are going to hire. The success and timeliness of your move are highly dependent on the expertise and professionalism of your moving company.

Choosing the wrong moving company can not only leave you frustrated but also suffering huge losses. Your choice of moving company isn't a decision that you should take lightly. With that being said, you might be wondering how one identifies the most reliable long distance movers from the sea of moving companies claiming to be the best at what they do? Fortunately, here we are going to look at some of the top factors to consider when choosing a long distance mover.

1. Experience

As discussed earlier, long distance relocation involves a lot of risks. Hence, to ensure that these risks are minimized, you need to ensure that the company you choose is experienced in long distance moving. A company that is in the business for many years knows how to effectively and safely carry out the move. Their staff is professionally trained, and considering their experience; they are aware of the mistakes that can hamper the success of the move. They know which measures to put in place to avoid these mistakes. They will ensure that your items are well secured and are not exposed to any harm.

Also, they are aware of the legal requirements involving out-of-state moves, for example, additional licenses and paperwork.

2. Licensing and Insurance

The most important factor to consider when choosing a long distance mover is to check the licenses and insurance cover the company has. You should not fear to request the mover to provide you with proof of their license. This will indicate to you that the company is legit and not just another scam off the streets. Licensing and insurance often go hand in hand.

You should find out what insurance they provide to their clients. Find out whether they have replacement value protection, which helps to ensure that your belongings are covered up to a certain amount in case of any damage or loss. It is important to note that even with the best movers, accidents can happen, so you should always be protected.

3. Get a Written Estimates

When conducting a long distance move, a verbal estimate doesn't do you any good. You should request free estimates from various companies. These estimates should be detailed and clearly show what each cost covers. A professional mover should visit your home and assess before giving you the estimate. It is worth noting that a written estimate is legally binding; hence, it provides more guarantee.

When you obtain written estimates from multiple companies, you will be able to see what each company charges for each service. This will help you choose the one that best suits your needs.

4. The Reputation of the Mover

You don't want to hire a long distance moving company without first checking what previous clients are saying about their experience with the company. In addition to requesting a list of references, you should also make use of the internet.

Sites such as Better Business Bureau and Yelp will provide you with an abundance of customer experience information. The FMCSA website is also another website to consider as it provides safety reviews.

5. Signs to Look Out For

Apart from the above factors that you should take into consideration, there are signs you should watch out for to help you identify a potential scam. First of all, avoid companies that demand advance cash payments or unusually large cash deposits. This is a major red flag.

Also, you shouldn't hire a company that makes use of a rental moving truck or a truck that is unmarked. Any serious professional and reliable moving company staff will show up with their truck showcasing the company name or logo.

If the mover insists on carrying out the planning process over the phone, including giving you the estimate over the phone and other planning aspects, then you should move on to the next moving company.

How to Get Yourself Out of Common Traffic Violations

Traffic violations can result in fines worth hundreds of dollars, points on your license, or even a driving ban. Some of the most common traffic violations are speeding, reckless driving, running through a stop sign or red light, driving under the influence and turning or changing lanes without indicating. Dealing with a pending court case can cause a lot of unnecessary stress. However, before you formally challenge the violation in a court of law, there are a few strategies that can be tried before you decide to look for legal representation.
1. Challenge the Officer’s Observations and Conclusion

After being pulled over and told that you have broken the Road Rules, challenging the traffic officer’s version of events can sometimes yield results. For example, if you run a red light, you might make the excuse that you were traveling too fast to stop in time. You might also point out that the officer was not in a favorable position to judge whether you did, in fact, violate the traffic laws. This can work especially well when there is a lot of traffic that might have arguably obstructed their view of the incident. Recording such an objection can help you later on if your case ends up going before a judge.

2. Challenge the State of the Roads or Signals

Make sure to drive past the site when the traffic offense occurred to check whether the road, markings, lights and signals are all in good working order. If you find any aspect of these is not working, in disrepair, or not clearly visible due to dirt or dust, record your findings in the form of a video or photo and pass them to your attorney. Any such evidence that you can collect can be extremely valuable and can assist a good lawyer in their attempt to construct a strong argument in your favor to absolve you of any responsibility for the violation.

3. Prove that the Offense Was the Result of an Attempt to Avoid Harm

A good defense in court may come from being able to prove that your action was a result of a legitimate attempt to protect the safety of yourself or other drivers. An example of this might be to claim that you were driving over the speed limit due to an attempt to avoid a collision, or because you feared the possibility of being hit from behind by a driver who was tailgating you. Another valid excuse might be that you were taking evasive action to avoid an animal that had moved into your path.

While it is always much wiser to take care to avoid committing a traffic offense so that you do not end up in a legal wrangle, once you have received a ticket, it is a good idea to hire a legal attorney that specializes in minimizing driving penalties. If you live in the Greater Sydney area, why not check out some of the fantastic traffic lawyers Parramatta has to offer?

6 Ways to Connect with Your Teen

The teenage years can be a difficult time for parents to connect with their children, who are experiencing greater independence and relying more on relationships outside the home.
If it seems difficult to connect with your teen, take heart: these 6 tips will help you create the conditions on your end for a supportive relationship.
Photo by Matheus Ferrero on Unsplash
1). Be Attentive to Their Mental Health
Life as a teen is filled with new challenges. Interpersonal relationships become more complex than they were before, and with puberty comes romantic attraction and all its attendant hopes and heartbreaks.

Additionally, many teens are far more conscious of their appearance and their status relative to their peers. With all of these pressures, it is easy enough to see how teens often struggle with depression and anxiety.

For parents, the challenge is often a matter of trying to connect and make a difference. It can be emotionally difficult for parents, not least because so many of us remember what it was like to be a teen and long to impart the wisdom gained from all the years we have lived since then.

It’s important to be attentive to your teen’s mental health with a genuine desire to listen and acknowledge their feelings.

You may find it easy to see the cognitive and emotional mistakes your teen is making, but it is important to listen and take their problems seriously. The heartbreak of being rejected by a crush, for example, may be emotionally painful to your teen in part because it is a new experience. Take the time to listen to them, and understand they are probably feeling insecure about how worthy they are of being loved.

Give your teen enough space to feel grief or process, but not so much space that they become isolated and shut away. Pay attention to any talk or behaviors that may point toward self-harm. If need be, consider taking your teen to a professional mental health therapist for teen anxiety treatment or counseling for depression.

2). Encourage Socialization at Home
Being a teenager is a time for young people to stretch their wings and achieve more independence than they had as younger children. Their friends and peer groups start to displace the family as the main sources of social activity. They also discover romance and dating – and, after a certain age, driving.

For many parents, this can be a fraught, difficult time, as they get used to their teens becoming more grownup. However, this is precisely why it is such a good idea to encourage socialization in the home.

Turn your home into a welcoming, inviting place where your teen and their friends can come over and hang out after school or on weekends. Invite your teen’s friends over for dinner, and maybe put on a game night on the weekend.

3). Family Dinners
In addition to inviting your teen’s friends over, you can establish family dinner time as a way to promote togetherness for the whole family. Your teen doesn’t have to be present every evening, particularly if they have work or dinner at one of their friends’ homes, but try to insist that they participate some of the time.

Family dinner times can be a good opportunity for everyone to reconnect, relax, and share experiences. Your teen may not always want to be present, but try to gently but firmly insist that they be present some of the time.

4). Make Time for Them One-On-One
Family dinners are a wonderful way to connect with everyone, but particularly if you have a larger family it may also be a good idea to schedule some one-on-one time with your teen.
Whether you do lunch, dinner, or an evening hike at a nearby park or other area, try spending some time with your teen and encouraging them to talk about whatever is on their minds. Ask them how their friends are doing, how they like their classes, and talk about anything else that seems relevant – their interests, hobbies, things that are going on with them.

5). Take Interest in Their Activities and Hobbies
It’s also a good idea to encourage your teen to be active, to get involved in healthy activities like athletics, fitness activities, and various hobbies.

Take an active interest in your teen’s activities and encourage them to keep going even and especially when the going gets difficult – as it always does in any worthwhile endeavor.

6). Help Them Plan for the Future
We’ve talked before about getting your teen to talk about college goals, and this speaks to one of the more important ways you can help your teen: take the time and effort to help them plan for their future.

Whether or not college is in your teen’s future, make sure you spend time with them helping them to work through the all-important questions about their future career and life goals. They’ll thank you later.

Relationships are a two-way street, and that becomes ever more true of the parent-child relationship during the teenage years. While you can’t control how your teenager responds to your efforts, these 6 strategies should help you create the best possible conditions for encouraging rapport.

3 Best Places to Visit in Europe This Winter

If you love to travel, then planning your next trip will be almost as exciting as actually being on your next trip. (Hey, we said almost!) While many people want to travel somewhere warm and tropical during the colder months, some people are looking for their perfect winter destination. This might be picturesque snowy towns known for their ski resorts, or it might be visiting some incredible cities while they’re decorated for the season. And all of this can be found in Europe.

Visiting Europe during the winter months shouldn’t be immediately rejected. The cities (and popular tourist spots) will likely be less crowded, flights and hotels will likely be cheaper, and there are plenty of seasonal offerings and decorations to enjoy. Holiday markets and events are common, but you’ll be able to find seasonal events wherever you go. Plus, all of the beautiful lights and decorations will put you in a happy and festive mood, and they might just make your travels that much better.

Here are the 3 best places to visit in Europe this winter:

1. Prague, Czech Republic
Prague is a wonderful place to visit in the winter because there’s so much to do during this festive time of year, from visiting seasonal markets and events to taking in all the festive decorations and picturesque scenery. If you visit in December or early January, you absolutely must check out the city’s Christmas markets at Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square (but there are even more around the city). There you’ll find seasonal ornaments, trinkets, keepsakes, souvenirs, and plenty of hearty foods and drinks.

Want to experience a real-life winter fairytale? Head to the Prague Castle to learn more about the city’s history and admire some incredible art and architecture. To escape the cold, check out museums like the Kafka Museum, the Národní museum, The City of Prague Museum, and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. And when you’re done, relax with some Czech beer or a glass of wine and a big bowl of goulash.

2. Paris, France
Paris receives tens of millions of tourists per year, and the warmer months are the most popular times to visit. Why not escape the crowds and visit one of the world’s most romantic cities during the winter? Sure, it’ll be cold, but if you’re lucky, you might get to see this beautiful city covered in snow. With seasonal lights and decorations, it won’t be a sight to miss.

Besides visiting all of the usual stops in Paris like the Louvre Museum, the Eiffel Tower, the Musée d'Orsay, the Arc de Triomphe, Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, and Montmartre, you should also check out some of the city’s seasonal offerings. Christmas is very popular in Paris, so it’s safe to say that the city goes all out. Check out the shop decorations along the Champs-Elysées, go ice skating at the Eiffel Tower, head to one of the many Christmas markets, or see the decorations at Disneyland Paris. Even if you don’t celebrate the holiday, seeing all the colors and lights will surely make you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

3. Stockholm, Sweden
If you’re able to handle the much colder temps up north, then you must give Stockholm a chance. It’s another picturesque winter destination, and it’s full of exciting things to do, even in the winter. There are numerous Christmas markets to check out, but one of the most popular is the one in Gamla Stan, the city’s old town. Indulge in sweets and meats, sip some festive glögg, and take home some festive crafts and souvenirs. At night, there’s even the option to take a walking tour by lantern light where you can see the sights and learn about Swedish traditions.

For museums, you must check out the ever-popular Vasa Museum, which houses the world’s best-preserved 17th-century ship. For some great food, go to the Östermalms Saluhall, an indoor food market. And if you’re ready to get out and brave the cold again, take a boat ride or hit up one of the area’s many ski resorts.

Water passes through the activated carbon and sediment, chlorine and VOC’s attach themselves to the carbon. The water that leaves the filter is cleaner and tastes better.
It’s important to note that this type of filter needs to be changed every 2 months.

2. Reverse Osmosis
This type of filter needs to be changed every year but, it is remarkably effective at eliminating nitrates, heavy metals, dissolved salts, and an array of organic and inorganic compounds.

Again, you’ll notice the taste difference and even the color of your water should appear clearer.

Reverse osmosis is also effective if you need to soften your water, which makes it essential in hard water areas.

3. UV Water Filters
A UV filter mimics the sun. UV rays are concentrated on the water, effectively killing any bacteria present. This type of filter can destroy most living organisms but it can’t remove any debris or sediment from your water.

You may prefer to use it in conjunction with a second water filter. You will need to change the filter annually.

4. Chlorine Filter
Chlorine is used by most treatment centers to eradicate bacteria in the water. However, it has also been linked with undesirable effects on your health. For this reason, you may want to use a chlorine filter to cleanse your water. The best one to do this is the carbon filter mentioned earlier.

However, if you source your own water, perhaps through a well on your land, you may want to use a chlorine filter to add chlorine to your water and effectively kill any microorganisms in the water, making it safer to drink.

Of course, you may then want to use a carbon filter to remove the chlorine…
You will need to refill the chlorine when it runs low.

5. Multi-Media Filters
This type of filter is designed to remove contaminants and sediment from your water. Again, it is considered essential if you have your own water supply. It can also be useful if you feel there is too much debris coming down the pipes to your home from the treatment center.

There are different choices of media depending on which types of contaminants you want to focus on.

New Uses for Old Curtains

Redecorating your home can be expensive. But you don’t always have to go out and buy the newest décor on the market. You can repurpose items you already have - like curtains! Your curtains may be old, but that doesn’t mean they’ve lost their use. There are many ways to recycle the fabric that once covered your windows. Here are several ideas on how you can come up with new uses for old curtains.

Table accessories: The fabric from old curtains can be repurposed into a tablecloth or runner for any table in your home. The material can also be converted into placemats or decorative napkins that will add flair to any dining room table. Think about the different types of events you’re hosting, whether it’s Thanksgiving dinner or a small cocktail party, and use old curtains that match those vibes.

Blankets and pillows: Old curtain fabric can also be used to create throw pillow covers, blankets, or pieces to a quilt. With blankets and pillows, you do want to consider the texture of the curtain. Burlap may not be the best choice for something you want to curl up with, but silk would make for an excellent pillowcase. Make use of these old curtain fabrics to create unique pieces that add comfort to any room in your home.

Headboard: Another option for repurposing your old drapes is to convert them into a headboard. This option is less expensive than purchasing an actual headboard, and it will create a new focal point in your space. Headboards pull a room together, and it’s so simple to DIY one. You can hang one behind your bed as is or upholster a piece of wood.

Room dividers: Use old curtains to divide a large living area into two separate spaces. For example, you can split an office space from a living space or create a secluded play area for children apart from your main living room. It’s also a good idea for children who share a bedroom and want extra privacy.

Shower curtain: Old drapes can also be converted into shower curtains. Simply add a plastic lining to protect your repurposed drapes. Shower curtains are an item in the house that can really show off your style and personality, so the more eclectic the pattern, the better. Plus, you’ll have a shower curtain that can’t be found anywhere else and at a much lower price.

Doors: This option provides your home with the privacy of a door, but with a more open and decorative feel. Utilize old curtains to cover a closet space in a hallway, bedroom, bathroom, or any area in your home that you want to be hidden from view.

It doesn’t matter whether your curtains are solid or patterned. Any type of curtain can be repurposed in several ways. When you’re recycling old curtains, think about the color scheme and style of your home so that you’re creating a cohesive vibe throughout the house. Get creative and reinvent your old curtains into new décor for your home!

Benefits of Homeschooling at Night and Other Odd Times

As parents embark on the homeschooling journey with their children, often creating a schedule becomes the most complicated part of the entire homeschooling process. Usually, when the idea of schoolwork comes up, people think about the schedules that kids in school systems are put on. Days usually start by 8 a.m. and conclude by 3:30 p.m. or so.

However, one of the benefits of homeschooling is that you don’t have to abide by someone else’s schedule. Not all kids are their most productive at 8 a.m. Maybe your child is a night owl who performs better after 6 p.m. There are quite a few benefits to starting homeschooling at night or other “odd” times throughout the day.

1. Allows You to Do Schooling Around Work Schedules

When parents in a homeschooling household work odd hours, it might be challenging to complete coursework during the normal school day hours. If someone works overnights, starting schoolwork at 8 a.m. isn’t going to be conducive for their lifestyle. Instead, you might decide that 3 p.m. is a better time to do schoolwork. For those who work 12-hour shifts, your homeschooling schedules might look completely different than those who work a normal 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. job or stay at home with their children.

2. Makes It Easier to Schedule Appointments

We’ve all had to try to schedule doctor’s appointments around the many other commitments we have. By leaving more time open during the day, you can schedule all of your doctor’s appointments as well as other things like tax appointments during regular business hours without much hassle. Plus, doctors often have patients competing for the evening appointment times, so it might take a while to get in to see your doctors.

3. Gives You Time for Field Trips and Other Activities

It is not fun to sit around doing regular schoolwork all of the time. From time to time, it is important to schedule additional activities and field trips. You might be using these outings as learning experiences as well. Maybe once a month you have an afternoon outing to a place with some educational value like the zoo, botanical garden, or museum.
Taking time out of the morning or afternoon allows you to go to those places when they aren’t going to be crowded and busy like they would be in the evenings and on weekends.

4. Allows Others to Help with Teaching

In some households, a spouse might be a better teacher in one subject than the main teacher. If one parent is a whiz at math but works all day, it might be best to hold off on math lessons until that parent is back from work.

Additionally, some parents like to wait until they have some helping hands to do science experiments and art projects because they can get messy really fast. There is no shame in pushing some lessons to later in the day if that is what works best for your family.

5. Allows Students to Work When They Are Most Productive

Like we mentioned before, not everyone is a morning person. In some cases, children do their best work in the evening. It is important for many parents to allow their children to work on schooling when they are at their most focused and productive. This means that some children will need to have night homeschooling as an option.

Doing class work at night allows these kids to sleep in until they are well-rested without compromising on the amount of time they have to get their work done.

6. Allows a Tutor to Teach Students

Not every homeschooler is taught by a parent. Some children are homeschooled by a tutor who has other students or works full-time, which means that lessons need to work around a different schedule. If you’re interested in homeschooling, but don’t want to teach your children yourself, you will need to have a little flexibility when it comes down to the timing of your children’s education. You might be able to find tutors that can even teach your child when it best suits the student.

There are so many reasons that a parent may need or choose to homeschool at a time that isn’t considered normal schooling hours. However you need to work homeschooling into your routine is fine, as long as it works for you and your family. Find a homeschooling curriculum that works wells for your family and work it in however you need to support your child’s education.
