5 Eyeglass Trends for 2023

With 2023 just a few weeks away, it’s time to start looking toward what the new year will bring for eyeglass trends. A pair of eyeglasses aren’t just for utility; they also greatly influence and enhance your look, much like a particular hairstyle would.

There are endless options to choose from styles such as round, square, cat-eye, and more. You can also choose from many colors and materials to find the perfect pair. Whether you regularly wear eyeglasses or only wear them from time to time, it’s important for you to consider what styles you like and what will achieve the look you’re going for. Eyeglasses are much like accessories; where they can elevate your look and take it to the next level.

Consider some of the following styles when looking for eyeglasses in the new year.

1. The Racer

This sporty style is filled with angular, futuristic touches and modular styles created with lightweight, sustainable materials. The lenses for this style will be iridescent, mirrored, or tinted. This style is perfect for someone who is active and needs a pair of high-performance and durable eyeglasses.

Rather than traditional sporty eyewear that might seem bulky or outdated, the racer adds a fresh perspective on athletic eyewear. This style is also a great choice for streetwear and everyday looks, not just for sports. With many different options for colors, you can create a look that’s a bit more subtle or one that has you standing out in a crowd.

2. The Oversized Angular

Oversized eyeglasses originally worn in the 1970s have been coming back in recent years. Pairing that style with angular touches and styles creates a dramatic yet minimalistic look. This style is perfect for both men and women and is a luxury staple in the eyewear market.

These eyeglasses are perfect for someone who wants a simple, clean look while also looking to stand out a bit. With the lightweight frame, you also don’t need to worry about feeling weighed down. There are plenty of color and pattern options to choose from with this style, so you’re sure to find the one that compliments your style and taste.

3. Green Eco-Conscious Frames

The new year will see a rise in eco-conscious frames, as consumers concerned about the fashion industry’s impact on the world will start seeking more sustainable options. These days, many eyeglasses are crafted with natural wood, recycled plastic, cork, and bamboo.

Chromatic green will also become more popular in 2023, as green is associated with ongoing environmental efforts. Additionally, other shades of green will also be popular, such as lime green or bright green.

Eco-conscious frames are on the rise, especially since you don’t need to compromise your style in order to help the planet. Just about any style of eyewear can be crafted from sustainable materials, so you can feel good about the glasses you wear.

4. Tinted Lenses

The new year will also see tinted lenses increasing in popularity. This retro eyewear style comes in many shades of warm-hued lenses, like red, orange, and yellow. This trend of “new retro” styling is perfect for someone who wants a vintage feel.

Pairing tinted lenses with an oversized frame will create a dramatic look while pairing them with a more minimalistic frame will keep it feeling more vintage. There are endless options available to you when it comes to incorporating tinted lenses into your style.

5. Geometric Frames

This style of hexagonal or octagon-shaped frames is a massive trend and won’t be going away soon. This style is even evolving to incorporate a blend of aviator and geometric styles to create an ultra-modern frame.

Geometric frames allow you to have plenty of options to choose from in order to find the shape that best fits your face shape and personal style. Not only do you get to choose from the different shapes, but you also get to choose the size and color that best fits you. These futuristic eyeglasses are perfect for the person who enjoys staying on trend and making a statement.

Current Fashion Trends You Won’t Want to Miss

The changing face of fashion can be hard to keep up with, so we have put together these top fashion trends you won’t want to miss. At Hush Style, they are passionate about all things style-related so they like to know what’s hot and what is taking the fashion world by storm. Take a look so you can stay ahead of the trends.

Keeping Neutral

Almost in direct contrast to a dramatic metallic look would be dressing head to toe in natural tones. Think camels, beiges, creams and so on. This is a clean and chic look that can look not only stylish but cozy at the same time, so it is perfect for the turning weather as we head into the chilly winter months. You can choose a suit with complimentary pieces to support the look, or perhaps a dress and overcoat in tonal colors. Dressed up or down, this color palette will suit everyone when worn in a style that is true to them.

Put Your Best Foot Forward

Trainers used to be reserved for athletes or those recovering from injuries,  but today, the humble trainer is so much more than that. Even the most upmarket designers have ranges of trainers that are so chic you can even wear them with the most glamorous of dresses that will  enhance the overall look. Oh, and your feet will thank you for it too! Choosing a designer style will mean the quality is built to last and the branding will allow you to wear them for years to come whilst staying at the cutting edge of fashion.

Crossbody Bags

Handbags are always a way to make a great statement and stand out from the crowd, but keeping them functional can sometimes be a chore. These days, with so many things we need to carry about with us at all times (purse, phone, keys, and now face masks and hand sanitizer too) it can be hard to find the right bag to fit it all. Also, you need your hands free  to put on your mask and sanitizer. That’s why a crossbody bag is so useful – a well made one will give you the stylish look you desire, while offering convenience.

Gold Rush

Metallics are often seen gracing the most fashionable of divas in many winter seasons, but there is an added focus this year. The focus is on gold in particular, and the more it glimmers, the better. This color is rich and intense, glamorous and festive all in one. Gold pairs well with a lot of other colors, so you can have a lot of fun with it.

Mellow Yellow

Different shades of yellow have been in and out of fashion across the years from canary to lemon, mustard to sunflower, there is a color for each season and occasion. Often found in clothing, now is the time to invest in an over-sized coat in a bold shade of yellow. This will brighten up a darker outfit and as yellow is seen as the color of happiness, you will find you are followed by smiles wherever you go. You can’t go wrong with a happy color!

10 Trends that need to be left in 2013

There are so many things that have been abused in 2013 that I really think should stay in 2013.

  1. Wearing leggings as pants. I won't go into details with this one. I'm over it.
  2. Inserting the word "really" too many times in conversation. It is the most overused word of 2013. PLEASE stop it.
  3. Women and teenage girls and their 1,238,749,739 selfies All. Day. Long. We know what you look like. Obviously you love yourself. Narcissistic much?
  4. The mustache trend started a few years ago and I would love to see it go away for good.
  5. Over-sharing on social media. When you have to post the events of your life from the moment you wake up until you go to sleep, you have a problem!
  6. Duck lips. I know it's nothing new.
  7. Re-posting videos that exploit children. I don't need to see any toddler in a diaper nasty dancing. It's not cute!
  8. The phrase "turn up" can die.
  9. Bitstrips. It was so cute for the first week. Very cute. Then all the people of the world jumped on the Bitstrips bandwagon.
  10. Instagram followers that sell "skinny wraps". No thank you. *block*
Please add anything you want to see gone before we head into 2014.

From princess to diva?

I remember when little girls were referred to as princesses. They would be decked out in pink with ruffles and glitter. They were all things sweet and innocent. Of course times change...people change. Now parents refer to little girls (even babies) as a diva. If you look up the definition of the word diva you will find out that it means a celebrated female singer. Ladies like Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey are great examples of a diva. The word "diva" is also used negatively, to describe a celebrity in film or music who is extremely demanding and fussy when it comes to their personal needs or wants.

Now tell me something. Why on earth does a 6 month old baby girl need to be referred to as a diva? Am I missing something here? Little sweet girls are being called a diva like it is a badge of honor. I am not judging you if you do this so please don't get me wrong. I just need some understanding.

What are your thoughts?

The last jacket this child will ever get

Back in early November Dwayne and I ordered a Letterman's jacket for Chardie since she has expressed numerous times that she really wanted one. She has already lettered twice so we finally broke down and let her get it. As we made the order and picked out the patches, I asked the salesperson what the turnaround time was. He said roughly 6-8 weeks since it was the holidays time. He said that it would be closer to 8 weeks. You should have seen the look on my child's face. I think she was thinking more like 1 week. So for 7 weeks I had to listen to her complain and whine about how her jacket was taking forever. With all I went through having to listen to an impatient teenager I told her that this would be the last jacket she would get for the rest of her high school career. I also informed her that she better wear it all the time since we spent $200 on it. You see, my child is one of those girls that will love something and finally have it and decide that it is not quite her style.

Well the jacket came in on New Year's eve and she has almost not taken it off since then! She is so happy with it. We ordered a size small short since she is a little munchkin. She could not wait to go to school today to show it off. After all, she will be the only girl at her school that has one.

She loves the HUGE volleyball patch with her number on it. It is way bigger than we were expecting actually.
She wanted the embroidered letters for the back instead of the chenille. She is my classic baby.

Of course she has her full first name. She goes by "Char" at school but I think she wanted her full formal name since she is once again my classic baby. I am glad she finally got it so I don't have to hear about it anymore. Oh the things you do for your kids....

OMG...LOL!!!

Last night my hubby updated his Facebook account and was typing a comment in response to and old high school ID card photo. Our oldest daughter Chardonnay was with us and watched her dad as he typed away.

My comment to his photo was "Oh lawd, and I married you anyway! LOL!"

He then responds to say something dumb along the lines of "and yes, you continue to praise the heavens above everyday. lol!" *coughs...whatever!*

Chardie then says Uh Bawbie and Papo...LOL??? You are not cool! Please don't think you are just because you say lol!! We laughed so hard and explained that lol has been around a while now, even before she knew it existed.

We then go into the conversation about how kids these days think they came up with everything. For instance the word swagger. Youngsters think this is a word of their time since some rapper put it in a song and made a big hit out of it. Sorry kids, swagger is an old timey word :P I just love listening to my kids points of view on things. They are hysterical!

At the end of the conversation Dwayne and I both claim that we are indeed cool. Chardie agreed that I was cool but that Papo was a straight up fool! Now that one deserves a big LOL!!!

Do you have a tattoo?

Do you have a tattoo? Well, both Dwayne and I have one. Actually he has more than one but you can say it is a cluster of them. I got mine about 7 years ago when we were down in Miami. Our state (South Carolina) did not allow tattooing at that time. As a matter of fact, it has been about 2 years now since the law was passed legalizing tattooing. I guess when you live in a conservative Southern state, that's just how it is.

The day Dwayne and I went to get my tattoo was really exciting. Nobody thought I would go through with it. I already knew exactly what I was getting and where. I took into consideration that it had to be in a place that could easily be covered up when it was inappropriate. I got Dwayne's name in my right ankle. I know some of you are gasping and saying "What in the world were you thinking getting a man's name on your body?" Perhaps it was a crazy move on my part, but I don't regret it. We both look at it as a tribute to the struggles we went through to be together and how long we have come (20 years).
*Dwayne's says "S C B" on the top for the girls & myself. He will eventually get one for William.
As my crazy hubby says, at least if he ever passed away, I could still find another Dwayne. He on the other hand would be out of luck finding another Sheliza! And the only other Sheliza we know would never be able to deal with Dwayne. ha ha!
What do you think of tattoos? If you have one, where is it and what is it of? Please share :-)

Sisters with style

Here are our beautiful girls showing off their Vera Bradley purses. Chardonnay saved $40 to buy little sister Briahnna her very first Vera Bradley. My hubby likes to call it an 'overpriced quilt with a zipper'. I must admit they are very pricey and they look like an old ladies kinda bag, but they are the big thing amongst the girls and teens today. I am not a big fan of them myself, but I am sure I was into some tacky stuff in my time as well!

New style

I was in my favorite store the other day when I noticed these "pants" located next to the jeans and tops in the girls' dept. I was trying to figure out why there were pajamas in the regular clothing section. I asked my daughters what they thought of that and they responded "oh mom, those are actual pants that you wear just as if they were jeans or khakis". I was appalled! There is no way I could let my kids walk out the door looking like they just rolled out of bed. I then started to noticed more and more girls wearing them to school. Maybe I am older now and have lost some fashion sense, but I think it looks ridiculous!
What do you think? Would you let your daughter wear them to school?
