Current Fashion Trends You Won’t Want to Miss

The changing face of fashion can be hard to keep up with, so we have put together these top fashion trends you won’t want to miss. At Hush Style, they are passionate about all things style-related so they like to know what’s hot and what is taking the fashion world by storm. Take a look so you can stay ahead of the trends.

Keeping Neutral

Almost in direct contrast to a dramatic metallic look would be dressing head to toe in natural tones. Think camels, beiges, creams and so on. This is a clean and chic look that can look not only stylish but cozy at the same time, so it is perfect for the turning weather as we head into the chilly winter months. You can choose a suit with complimentary pieces to support the look, or perhaps a dress and overcoat in tonal colors. Dressed up or down, this color palette will suit everyone when worn in a style that is true to them.

Put Your Best Foot Forward

Trainers used to be reserved for athletes or those recovering from injuries,  but today, the humble trainer is so much more than that. Even the most upmarket designers have ranges of trainers that are so chic you can even wear them with the most glamorous of dresses that will  enhance the overall look. Oh, and your feet will thank you for it too! Choosing a designer style will mean the quality is built to last and the branding will allow you to wear them for years to come whilst staying at the cutting edge of fashion.

Crossbody Bags

Handbags are always a way to make a great statement and stand out from the crowd, but keeping them functional can sometimes be a chore. These days, with so many things we need to carry about with us at all times (purse, phone, keys, and now face masks and hand sanitizer too) it can be hard to find the right bag to fit it all. Also, you need your hands free  to put on your mask and sanitizer. That’s why a crossbody bag is so useful – a well made one will give you the stylish look you desire, while offering convenience.

Gold Rush

Metallics are often seen gracing the most fashionable of divas in many winter seasons, but there is an added focus this year. The focus is on gold in particular, and the more it glimmers, the better. This color is rich and intense, glamorous and festive all in one. Gold pairs well with a lot of other colors, so you can have a lot of fun with it.

Mellow Yellow

Different shades of yellow have been in and out of fashion across the years from canary to lemon, mustard to sunflower, there is a color for each season and occasion. Often found in clothing, now is the time to invest in an over-sized coat in a bold shade of yellow. This will brighten up a darker outfit and as yellow is seen as the color of happiness, you will find you are followed by smiles wherever you go. You can’t go wrong with a happy color!
So what are you waiting for? Try out these trends for yourself!

Entenmann’s® Little Bites® Are Ninja Approved #LoveLittleBites

**CLOSED**
Today's conversation is *sponsored by Entenmann’s® Little Bites® and all opinions are my own as always.

It's October, and many of us are getting into the fall festivities with Halloween on the way! Whether it's pumpkins on the porch, scarecrows on the driveway, or a festive wreath on the door, the fall season is here. Candy is one of those things that is in abundance with it being Halloween time. My little guy does not eat candy (crazy, I know!), but enjoys the occasional treat. Entenmann’s® Little Bites® pumpkin muffins are the perfect treat that he actually enjoys.
Little Bites pumpkin muffins are available for a limited time, so we will have to stock up while we can. I am not the biggest pumpkin fan, but these little muffins really are delicious! They are baked soft and moist using real pumpkins, and are only 180 calories per pouch. They never contain high fructose corn syrup or trans-fat, which makes this mom very happy. Of course, portion control is always a good thing. I just have to make sure I indulge in one pack, and don't try to sneak a second. Who can resist those little moist, delicious bites of yumminess? I know I surely can't! My son has become the latest Little Bites pumpkin muffin fan. Look at that sweet face 😃
We love some of the original varieties of Little Bites including blueberry, chocolate chip, and fudge brownies. It's the perfect grab-n-go breakfast, lunchbox snack, and would be perfect for class parties or as Halloween treats. I'm always down for non-candy treats. Any kid would love Little Bites in their Halloween sack.

10 Ways To Keep You Strong For The Transitioning Season

Fall is right around the corner, which means it’s time to bundle up and prepare your body for the cool weather to come. The immune system is a large collection of different cells that have a primary goal to protect your body and attack foreign organisms or matter. Keeping these natural defenses strong is very important for transitioning into the new season and involves a variety of strategies. Dr. Christopher Calapai, D.O., a New York City Osteopathic Physician board certified in family and anti-aging medicine is sharing his top 10 ways to keep you strong for the transitioning season.

  1. Exercise on a daily basis: The minimum should be a half hour of walking continuously so as to increase oxygenation to tissues as well as deliver vitamins minerals and hormones to these cells.
  2. Be sure to get good deep restorative sleep: This should be at least six hours every night. Sleep deprivation not only makes us tired, but decreases function in almost all organs.
  3. Keep chemicals and preservatives out of the diet: We should eat as organically as possible, with the diet comprised of a variety of vegetables, fruits and good protein sources.
  4. Test your blood for vitamins, minerals, and hormones: Thousands of studies over many years have described that vitamin deficiency is correlated with degenerate disease we can give me in response among many others. This test will guide you as to exactly what nutrients you're deficient in, and what you should take. “There is no better test than this,” says Dr. Calapai.
  5. Do not smoke cigarettes: This is a no brainer for most, as they contain thousands of dangerous chemicals, which can lead to a low immune system. But if you can't quit smoking completely, give one of these trendy vape devices a shot.
  6. Be careful with exposure to alcohol: This can have the variety of effects that are hurtful to the body if done in excess
  7. Maintain a clean home environment: In areas where you spend the most time, make sure that surfaces are cleaned with products that can kill germs or viruses. Use HEPA filtration systems to capture particulate matter including dust, allergens or organisms that can make you ill.
  8. Wash your hands thoroughly and a few times during the day and avoid other people that have chronic infection, flu or a virus.
  9. Try to minimize stress, anxiety and irritability: Taking a break for a few minutes during a stressful day can make the stress response much less progressive.
  10. Lastly, be sure to visit your doctor for routine testing and physical exam inform: This ensures you are constantly aware of what is going on with your body.
About the doctor:  Dr. Christopher Calapai, D.O. is an Osteopathic Physician board certified in family medicine, and anti-aging medicine. Proclaimed the "The Stem Cell Guru" by the New York Daily News, Dr. Calapai is a leader in the field of stem cell therapy in the U.S. His stem cell treatments have achieved remarkable results in clinical trials on patients with conditions as varied as Alzheimer's, arthritis, erectile dysfunction, frailty syndrome, heart, kidney and liver failure, lupus, MS and Parkinson's. Get Accessorized This Fall With JORD Wood Watches

Today's post is sponsored by JORD Wood Watches

I seriously feel like the Summer has slipped on by and we are all getting prepped for Fall. I am already planning to get ahead on organizing my closet and clothing drawers. Since I stay at home all day, my wardrobe takes the back seat. I like to go through my husband's things first and make a running list of what he may need for the change of seasons. Thankfully, Fall is usually easiest to dress for and we mostly just add some accessories like new ties, belts, or cuff links. This Fall, my husband was lucky to receive a new JORD wood watch to add some flair to his wardrobe.

He has become very obsessed interested in wrist watches and JORD offers a unique twist on ordinary watches. Their watch bands are crafted out of various types and finishes of quality wood that really makes a statement. Each time my husband sports his wood watch, people stare and ask questions. The latest one in his new collection is from the Delmar Series in Dark Sandalwood & Blue Carbon.

This one is so masculine yet elegant looking and can be easily worn with casual attire, as well as his best business suits. You can't go wrong with a cool watch that can be paired with most outfits. This particular timepiece is available in a range of colors as well. At only $149, it is a great, affordable choice.

He is thrilled to break out his favorite sport coats this Fall and looks forward to showing off his new wrist candy. JORD Watches are not just for the fellas though. They have some beautiful selections in their women's collections. I noticed the trend of stacking watches and I really like it! Some of the wood watch bands and faces come in girlish hues like purple and plum. The watch design overall has a more feminine look. They have price points to suit your budget, starting as low as $129.

My husband is looking at some of the other colors and finishes in the Delmar Series. He feels like this style suits him well. I really like them too, but he will have to wait in line. I'm next up for a JORD Women's watch. These unique wrist watches would make the perfect give for any occasion or even as a "just because" gift. It's also not too early to start thinking about the upcoming holidays. Just like Summer breezed by, so will the next few months!

Ordering your new timepiece is easy, but choosing the one you love the most will take some time. It's so hard to decide with so many stunning choices! Once you get that narrowed down, you can download a watch sizing guide to get the perfect fit. You simply pick your watch, the correct size, and enter your shipping/payment information. In a matter of days, your JORD watch will arrive beautifully packaged and ready for wearing or gifting.

Be sure to follow JORD on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook & Twitter for style inspiration, product updates, and more! Thanks for reading and let me know if you have any questions.

The 7 Types of Boots Every Woman Should Have In Their Wardrobe This Fall

Knee high boots. Rain boots. Riding boots. Combat boots. Low boots. Thigh high boots. Black boots. Brown boots.

Overwhelmed yet? There are so many different kinds of boots on the market today that it can seem overpowering at times – what is the right boot to pick or do you have to buy 20 different pairs? Well, the true answer is that there really isn’t a “one size fits all” answer to the boot problem. However, you’re in luck because we have narrowed the number of boots to 7:

Overjoyed with Over the Knee

The shaft of your boot can go just about as high as you are comfortable with this fall – whether that means above the knee or all the way to your thigh.  Some people don’t think that boots that go over the knee can be comfortable, but a pair with added stretch or laces ensures a comfortable, tailored fit. Over the knee boots are a great option for those nights when you want to look a little more formal, but it is too cold to wear traditional high heels or strappy sandals.

It’s best to stay classic with black, brown, or gray for the fall, especially when you are wearing rich patterns and heavy fabrics. Over the knee boots look best with dresses and tunics with tights, though you can also pair them with jeggings. To double up on trends, over the knee boots in velvet are a splurge piece that you will cherish.

Comfortable Cowboy Boots

No matter what part of the world you come from, cowboy boots have a place at all fall activities. Fall is a huge time for music festivals, and cowboy boots while obviously great for country music, they fit right in and classic rock concerts too. They are also comfortable enough to go apple picking or pumpkin picking, and for a night around the bonfire.

You can’t go wrong with cowboy boots, during fall they are especially great with a pair of skinny jeans tucked into them or a great pair of simple tights or if it’s warm enough your favorite dress. Add in a denim jacket or a paisley scarf to continue with the theme, or do something completely out of the box and find a pair of boots with embroidery or glitter.

Ever Ready Lace Ups

Fall has a way of presenting us with opportunities to do many different activities at the drop of a hat – one moment you are going to a football game, and the next you are sitting on a hayride getting scared out of your mind. For fall, you will definitely need a pair of shoes that can “do it all” with you.

A simple, sturdy pair of lace up boots can cover just about any situation that you put them into. They are perfect to keep your toes warm while you find your way in a corn maze and still comfortable enough that you won’t have to worry about blisters.

Classic lace up boots come in black and brown, but many stores have them in deep cognac or burnt sienna. With the plethora of color options, they add an outdoorsy touch to your jeans or a hip look to your sweater tights.

Fashion-Forward Chelsea Boots

If you don’t recognize the name “Chelsea Boots,” don’t worry – not many people do. However, you will recognize the classic style and pattern of the boots. The iconic side panels make the shoe more comfortable when you are wearing it, thanks to the added elastic stretch, and the leather ensures that classic boot look that everyone loves.

Wear these when you will have a lot of walking to do but you still want to have a sleek, chic look. They are best paired with your favorite pair of dark colored pants.

Dutiful Duck Boots

Winter weather happens, even in the fall, and it is always a damper on your wardrobe to slip and break a heel (or an ankle). Classic duck boots are the newest “pretty ugly” trend to hit popular culture this year. While you won’t find them on all of the Paris runways, you will find them on people who do a lot of walking on treacherous grounds.

If you have to walk across ice to get into the office or there are puddles everywhere at the holiday parade, you won’t have to worry about slipping, wet socks, or even cold feet. These have extra insulation, extra tread, and added rubber.

Duck boots come primarily from L.L. Bean, but you can get them just about everywhere now that they have become popular again. These work best with slim-legged silhouettes, but they can work with just about everything as they are more purposeful than they are fashionable.

Rockin’ Rocker Boots

You’ve seen them on everyone from Juliette Louis to Steven Tyler, so you know that they are a little edgy but they still bring the comfort to have a good time and not worry about getting blisters or breaking a heel.

Rocker boots have thick, chunk heels that are about 2-3 inches high with no platform. They are usually made out of suede, though a few lines have recently shown them covered in glitter. While they might sound a bit outlandish, they are actually the perfect pairing for the rich patterns and materials you wear only in the fall. They look absolutely amazing with long skirts, jeans of all kinds, and even with dresses.

These boots aren’t for the faint of heart or those who aren’t willing to break out of their comfort zones – but they can work on every single woman.

Cozy Sock Boots

They make boots that are extended in the ankle, they make boots that are normal in the ankle, but what about those of us who have bony ankles? Boots that sag or sink down are never comfortable or chic, but for many people, it is the only option that we have if we want to wear boots.

These boots fit close to the ankle (but many pairs have stretch so just about everyone can wear them) and make a streamlined look. If you are the type of person who gets cold ankles or feet while you are walking outside to attend fall festivals or watching a game, then you will love that these shoes block all of that cold air from getting to your foot.

As these shoes are meant to be thin, you won’t want to stuff denim or leggings into them, so these require a look all of their own. Sock boots look best with wide legged trousers or on bare legs, if it isn’t too cold.

With these seven boots, you will be prepared for just about every situation you encounter this fall. You won’t have to worry about blisters, weak ankles, slipping, tripping, or cold feet. Instead, you will be able to enjoy the little things that make fall the best season of all.

Thank you Jennifer Monahan for this guest post.

Perfect for Fall: The @PinkMonogram Rain Jacket (Review & Giveaway) #ad

**CLOSED**
Winner is Saira H. Congratulations!

I don't know what the deal is, but we have been experiencing such a range of odd weather since Fall started. I think we have seen more clouds than sunshine in recent weeks. Last weekend we went away to Myrtle Beach for a much needed getaway. Unfortunately, rain was in the forecast. We all had to make sure we packed accordingly. Lucky for me, I had just received the cutest rain jacket (Pack N Go Lightweight Pullover) from The Pink Monogram for review. The timing couldn't have been better! I was able to choose from 10 jacket colors and couple dozen thread colors for my custom monogram. I am very traditional for the most part so I went with my go-to favorite, basic black with the light pink thread for a girlie touch.
There were so many options as far as if you wanted a single-letter monogram, 3 letter monogram, text or words, and also graphic images. I think the hardest part is deciding what you like best. For an additional charge, you can also have the hood monogrammed.
The jackets are unisex size so they tend to run a bit larger. The offer XS-5XL. I went with a small and I think it was perfect for me.
The jacket itself is really lightweight and portable. This is a great thing for keeping in the car. I hate umbrella's so a rain jacket is a better option for me. I like that it has a front pocket as well as a zippered front pouch. It was really convenient to wear it during our walk on the beach and pier. I have gotten so many compliments and think this is the perfect addition to my outerwear wardrobe. I think I already know what it going under the tree for my daughters for Christmas! My husband would even like to have one.
I think anyone would love this rain jacket and I highly recommend it! Lucky for you, the generous folks at The Pink Monogram have offered to give a rain jacket away to one lucky Mom Files reader. You know you want one! Go enter below.
This giveaway is open to US Residents only and will end on October 15, 2014. One winner will be chosen at random and will be contacted via email. Mom Files is not responsible for any lost or stolen prizes.

I received a rain jacket for review purposes. All opinions are 100% my own as always.

Happy Halloween! By Lillian Jaine

It’s Halloween night, and Count von Count is dozing off in front of his fireplace. Suddenly, he hears someone knocking at his castle door, but when he opens the door, nobody’s there! A Halloween Scare by Eric James

It’s Halloween night, and creatures and critters from near and far are starting to gather outside the front door. New Fall Line from eShakti and a Giveaway (2 winners) CLOSED

CLOSED-
Winners are Team Jacob and Alicia- congratulations!

It's almost my favorite season of the year, Fall! I am really looking forward to some crisp, cool air and the sights and smells of all things Autumn. I was excited to get to check out the new Fall line from eShakti and got to pick out a dress of my choice to review. I had the hardest time choosing because I am a big fan of very classic and vintage dresses. The most unique thing about eShakti is the customization. You can choose from standard sizes or go with detailed sizing for a more precise fit. Depending on which dress you go with, you have options of pockets or no pockets, removing embroidery, dress length, sleeve style and even what neckline you prefer.

I have ordered a dress in the past and found that they run a bit small. I went with a size 8 and picked out the Victoria dress in black. I was attracted to the ruffles on the top and the overall feminine flow of the dress. I decided to keep the same sleeves and length and opted for a lower neckline. I also liked the idea of pockets so I kept that too. I absolutely LOVE the fit of the dress! I feel like this dress was made just for me. My family really loved the way I looked and think I picked the perfect style. I was surprised at how perfectly it fit and the side sash really completed the look. I liked how the ruffles continued along the back. I can easily dress things up with some accessories or even wearing my hair up. You can't ever go wrong with a little black dress!
I have my eye on the eggplant color in this same style. One thing I am really happy about is that I went with a larger size. I normally can wear a women's size 4 but something told me to go with the 8. It was perfect! Be sure to check out eShakti on the web, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.

I am so excited that the kind folks from eShakti are offering a giveaway for two Mom Files readers to each win a $50 gift card. There are so many styles, colors and pieces to choose from! Enter below: a Rafflecopter giveaway

Giveaway is open to Canada and US Residents only. Giveaway ends on September 22, 2013 and two winners will be selected at random and contacted via email to claim prize. Be sure to follow contest rules stated in Rafflecopter widget. Mom Files is not responsible for any lost or stolen prizes. Good luck!

I received a dress at no cost in exchange for an honest review and to help spread the word about the new fall line. All opinions are my own as always.

Simple Cinnamon Apples

I had a surplus of Fuji apples and tried to figure out what I could make with them. I did some quick and easy cinnamon apples. Here is the recipe:

What you need:
4 Fuji apples peeled, cored and sliced (I used this type because they are tart, sweet and crisp)
2 tablespoons of salted butter
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon (I used organic Saigon)
1/4 cup of granulated sugar

All I did was melt the butter and then add the apples, sugar and cinnamon. I cooked it on medium-high heat until bubbly caramelized and until the apples were tender but still firm. That's it! You can serve it as a side dish, with waffles or pancakes or with ice cream. It is a crowd pleaser!

Enjoy!
