Can you believe that 2020 is almost over? Despite this year being so different in regards to the pandemic, I try to keep things as normal as I can in our household. With the holiday season here and in full swing, I make sure I keep treats and goodies available for my family to snack on in between work and school meetings. From the outside looking in, working in a grocery store seems like a pretty simple job. Stocking shelves or icing cake all day may even look easier than your high-pressure job, but this career comes with its own struggles. A calm, collected employee is the gold standard in grocery stores. Things can get hectic quick; you might spill heavy cream all over the bakery floor while a customer is yelling about a messed up order and your frustrated coworker keeps shooting you "can you believe this?" eyes. That's a lot to handle at once! Staying calm under pressure will help you to navigate the many stressful situations that can pop up when you work in customer service and with various raw materials. It's also important to remain positive and helpful because you're the face of the store with the customers. They'll come to you with questions, concerns, and problems, and you'll need to handle them respectfully and completely while reassuring the customer. If you're not a people person, working in this industry probably isn't the best fit for you.

Can you believe that next week will be November already? Despite the craziness of this year as a whole, it still seems like time has raced by so quickly. My kids mentioned last week that we have to start pulling our winter holiday decor out of storage soon, and I got excited and nervous at the same time. One thing that I am looking forward to is Black Friday shopping. This is definitely the best time to get the greatest deals of the year. I have found that the Black Friday prices have always been better than those lowest prices of the year sales.

A few things to keep in mind if you are heading out to do your Black Friday shopping:

• Be organized. Bring your list and stick to it. Don't forget any paper coupons you might have. 
• Carry cash in several places, not just your wallet
• Use the buddy system. Do not shop alone! It's important to have a family member or friend with you in case things get too overwhelming. 
• If you are headed out in the early morning hours, eat breakfast or bring some snacks in your bag. Include some bottled water. 
• Wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers. It is easy to get overheated in busy stores, so layers are essential. 
• Carry a cross body style bag so that you can monitor your wallet, cash and credit cards more closely. 
• Keep your phone handy in case you have to do some quick addition of your purchases so there's no surprises when you get to the register.

How BI-LO Delivery By Shipt Saves Busy Families Time
