Simple Tips on How to Structure a Handwritten Thank You Letter

Ever since I was a kid, it was instilled in me to send out thank you notes or letters if someone was generous enough to either give me a gift or to show appreciation for something they did for me. I know that we live in the Internet age where a simple text or email saying thank you can be sent, but it seems so impersonal. I always feel so appreciated when I receive a handwritten thank you note or card. The time that a person takes to write a personal message, no matter how short, means so much in the busy world we all live in.

If you are a small business owner, it's definitely important to send out thank you letters to your customers. After all, if they didn’t buy your products or services, you would not be in business. You really can’t afford not to!  As a customer, it's really neat receiving a handwritten note from someone's business I supported. It shows me how important I am to them as a customer, and oftentimes means that I will purchase from them again in the future.

Tips for writing a thank you letter:

  • Always address the person by their first name.
  • Be very specific why you are thanking them. If they gave you a gift, mention that specific gift, and possibly how you will use it or if you enjoyed it.
  • If you had a party or event, be sure to thank them for taking the time to attend and how much it meant to you having them there.
  • If someone made a purchase from you, tell them how much you hope they will enjoy that item, and maybe write a short tip that can help use the product if it applies.
  • If you need to write a lot of letters, it helps to type it up and check for grammar errors so that you have a handwritten thank you letter format to go back to time and time again.
  • You can’t ever say thank you enough, so don’t be afraid to end with “thanks again, you're the best!”

If you are short on time and can’t hand write dozens of letters, you can always use an online service like Handwrytten that can do the writing for you. The recipient will still feel special, and most likely won’t even know that you didn’t take the pen to paper yourself. Of course the message will be provided by you to keep things personalized.

There are countless reasons you would need to send out thank you cards from birthday parties, graduations, weddings, holidays and more. Let’s not make this small, yet important gesture a lost art. Do you send out personal thank you letters or cards?

Getting Engaged with Moissanite Gems

It is no news that sparkling jewelry has been the choice adornment of most women for many years. But changing times result in changes in taste as well as changes in trends. Diamonds over time have become increasingly expensive to where most people cannot afford to buy them. The changing times has caused customers, who would consider nothing short of a diamond some years back, to purchase moissanites. Moissanites are unique in themselves and are not fake diamonds or diamond replicas. Moissanites are increasingly being considered due to its characteristic brilliance and reduced overall cost.

Unlike diamonds, moissanites do not raise ethical concerns largely because they are synthetic. In order to resolve the ethical concerns about diamonds, synthetic diamonds are reasonable alternatives to original mined diamonds. Moissanites are more astonishing to behold due to its bright array of colors. What's more? They come at affordable prices as moissanite engagement rings have eased their way onto ring fingers when diamonds simply have not been affordable.

Does That Make Them Fake Diamonds?

While it is easy to say false things about a competitive product, there is no theoretical evidence to back the suggestion posed by some diamond purists that moissanite is a diamond replica. In fact, moissanite is made up of laboratory produced silicon carbide which differs from diamond, which is composed of densely packed carbon atoms. The obvious different in their composition suggests differences in their properties.

Although moissanites 'diamond' engagement rings can be obtained at a reduced cost in comparison to diamond, it would be inappropriate to consider them an inferior class of jewelry. Moissanites have a hardness of 9.5 while diamonds have a hardness of 10 on a scale that measures the hardness of different gemstones. The refractive properties of moissanite gives off a light spectrum which is twice that produced by diamond.

Understand Moissanite Discovery

Silicon carbides were discovered in 1906 by Henri Moissan. This carbide was erroneously said to come from space due to its closeness to a meteorite crash site around the time of its discovery. But the silicon carbide has been noted to exist naturally on Earth. Silicon carbide cannot be used as jewelry in its raw form. Subjecting the compound to laboratory procedures yields the jewel known as moissanites. Unfortunately, fraud is prevalent in the jewelry industry. In order to make sure the moissanite purchased is not a fake or stolen product, there is a form of hallmark or paperwork which is linked back to the only company permitted by law to produce moissanites; a company owned by Charles and Calvard.

Should I Spend My Money on Moissanite?

Moissanites is worth the cost. Making a choice between diamond and moissanite seems to be an already made choice. Based on your budget and your concerns with ethical processes, you can choose which gemstone works for you. The violence and environmental hazards involved with diamond mining have long been in existence. Moissanite poses no such threat. Not to mention the excellent brightness, sparkle, and rainbow glow. Undoubtedly, moissanite is a gemstone worth your money.

Get Great Deals on Black Friday at Target

Can you believe that next week will be November already? Despite the craziness of this year as a whole, it still seems like time has raced by so quickly. My kids mentioned last week that we have to start pulling our winter holiday decor out of storage soon, and I got excited and nervous at the same time. I am so ready, yet not even remotely ready at the same time.

One thing that I am looking forward to is Black Friday shopping. This is definitely the best time to get the greatest deals of the year. I plan my gift-giving list according to sales, coupons, and promo codes as much as possible. This year is obviously a whole lot different when it comes to shopping in store, but it doesn't mean you can't pull it off with some planning and extra safety measures lined up.

This year we plan to hit up those Target Black Friday Deals, especially for their tech deals. Since most of us are still pretty much at home all day, electronics and leisure wear is where it's at! My son has become quite the gamer, so I hope to get a crazy good deal on gaming headphones. I might even go ahead an make purchases for his birthday next year and hide them away. He will be turning 13, so gifts will start costing a whole lot more!

Since Black Friday 2020 is unlike the previous years, you have to plan your outing carefully. Make sure you bring your mask and hand sanitizer above everything else! I also highly suggest a small cooler to keep in your car for bottled water or juice. Snacks are a must if you start to run low on energy. If you are one to overheat easily like I do, be sure to dress in layers. You do not want to feel faint in a store! For added safety, it's best to shop in pairs, so grab a shopping buddy and make it a fun outing. Oh, and don't forget to double-check those promo codes and coupons, especially from Slickdeals.

Of course, there is also online shopping for those who prefer the privacy and quiet with solo shopping. No matter which way you choose to shop, this is the best time of year to score the lowest prices on toys, electronics, and more. I am hoping to find some small kitchen appliances for myself this year. Now I'm getting excited about my Target shopping trip!

So what's on your holiday wish list? Are you planning on venturing out on Black Friday?

Surprise Someone with a Gift That Says You Care

Some people only know how to give, and they give without ever asking for anything in return.. During these challenging times, so many of our friends and family are still heading out each day for work. Many parents around the world are pulling round-the-clock shifts to make homes happy and comfortable places to live in. While many celebrations can be put on hold, the Coronavirus pandemic isn't a reason strong enough to not celebrate the people you love. You don’t even need an occasion for that!  A word of caution though, if you are planning to order a gift online, do not wait to do last-minute purchasing -- even the biggest retailers and stores cannot guarantee delivery in these uncertain times.

To help you, we have compiled this list of a few thoughtful gift ideas for parents, friends, neighbors or co-workers.

A Customized Gift Basket

Gift baskets make excellent gifts. Baskets contain several different items and thus, your mother or best friend is bound to like at least a few of them. Toiletries, such as shampoos and lotions, scented candles, coffee, wine, chocolates, cookies, cakes, and other edible items are popular choices for gift baskets. Many online stores even allow buyers to customize their baskets and add items that they think the recipient will like or enjoy best. If you can find an online store that allows customization, nothing's better.

Tickets to a Show or Event

Imagine the joy on their face when the unexpected becomes a reality – surprising someone with tickets to a show or exhibit is an art of its own. It's more than just a piece of paper; it's an invitation to a world of captivating performances to see an artist like Morgan Wallen, for example, or breath taking displays. The anticipation builds with every passing moment until that exhilarating day arrives, and they step into a realm of entertainment or culture they might never have experienced otherwise. In a world filled with digital communication, gifting someone an immersive and tangible experience like this not only creates unforgettable memories but also strengthens the bond between you. So, why not add a touch of excitement to life by gifting the magic of live entertainment?

Terrarium Candles

If the gift recipient loves plants and little things that beautify a home, a terrarium candle is a perfect gift for them. Terrarium candles are sweet-scented candles with a succulent sitting inside them. These candles come in different scents and feature a wide variety of plants. More importantly, if you do not want to order from outside, you can always make a terrarium candle at home if you're crafty.

Fitness Tracker

Wearable fitness trackers have become quite a rage. Once clipped on a person's wrist, they provide accurate information about the steps taken in a day, calorie intake, resting heart rate, sleep time, weight loss, etc. Some of the fitness trackers can even be connected to a phone, allowing users to respond to messages while working. Whether your loved one is a fitness enthusiast or not, a fitness tracker will certainly teach them to take better care of themselves. More importantly, fitness trackers are available in all budgets. There certainly is one that suits your budget and requirements, you just have to do some research.

Jewelry

It's hard to find a woman who does not love jewelry. Irrespective of however many bracelets and necklaces they have, there will always be another one that they would want to add to their collection. Surprise your loved one with a jewelry piece they have long coveted. If you do not know what's on their list, surprise them with a personalized bracelet or pendant with their name on it.

Beauty Subscription Box For Moms

All that work around the house can leave a woman's skin feeling dull and dry. It is no surprise that women enjoy looking pretty. However, they easily let go of her wishes and desires to make sure her family is giving the best of everything. A beauty subscription box could be your way of telling your mother you care about her desires as much as she cares about your needs. With a beauty box, she will be able to try all the new and good makeup products in the market and purchase the ones that suit her skin the best.

Photo Collage For Parents

At the heart of everything a parent does is at the thought of their children. A parent's love is selfless and thus, many value things that appeal to their emotional side more than things that appeal to their materialistic side. If your parent is the kind who holds onto happy memories for good and bad days, a photo collage would make the perfect gift for them. It will also give you the chance to go back into the memory lane and pick out the most beautiful memories from your past. Any parent would treasure this gift.

Flowers

If you have run out of ideas and are clueless about what to gift someone, know that you can never go wrong with flowers. Add a gift card and a heartfelt message to it and the recipient will surely love the gift. Just make sure to tell them things that you feel but never say.

Conclusion
We often take those who love us the most for granted -- let this not be the case for those closest to us. During these challenging times, do not forget to show your love and appreciation through a gift that says you care. We hope this list will help you find the right gift for the people who mean so much to you.

Birthday Gift Ideas For Kids 10 And Under That Aren't Toys

Struggling with birthday gift ideas for kids under 10? We’ve got you covered!

You’d think with having the whole world at our fingertips that finding the perfect birthday gift for our little ones would be a piece of cake. With so many user-friendly apps and online stores with an abundance of toys and gifts to choose from, it’s almost as if you don’t have to put any thought into your shopping at all.

But isn’t that the problem? For consumers, everything is always well within reach or suggested to us via clever marketing. But what about a gift that really means something? A gift that won’t end up at the bottom of the toy box with all the other plastic toys that they own but don’t even play with…? Well, here you’ll find 5 of the most popular gifts for children under 10 years old and none of them are toys.

An Investment In Their Future

Sure, your kids can’t play with a savings accounts – not until they’re older anyway – but investing in their futures and putting something away for them to utilize when they’re older is a wonderful commitment and gesture of love. Check out Golden Eagle Coin for investment pieces as well as somewhere to buy silver bars, gold coins and other items, you can also get the latest information on items that will increase in value over time. Alternatively, speak to your local bank about an IRA or a savings account.

Lessons

Do you have a budding Picasso at home? Or even a mini Serena Williams? If your child has a passion or a hobby, why not help them take it a step further with some lessons in their favorite interest? Not only will it give them more confidence, but it could even take them down a career path when they’re older. In addition, joining things like dance schools, theatre groups or sports teams allows them to experience things like competitions or exhibitions, the value of teamwork, or focusing on tapping into their own creativity. It’s character-building, to say the least.

A Dress-up Box

All children enjoy dressing up as their favorite princess or superhero, but what about something more realistic? Simply go through your wardrobe at home and see if you have any items you can donate. Hats, scarves, trousers, shoes, bags, costume jewelry, dresses, gloves, etc. Or visit your local thrift shop and see what you can find. Let their imagination run wild!

A Charitable Donation

The gift of giving is a wonderful thing, especially to those less fortunate than ourselves. So, incorporating a donation as a gift will teach your children about charity, kindness and it will make them feel good. This could be sponsoring a child in a foreign country, helping to plant more trees, sponsoring an endangered animal or even adopting an animal at a local rescue center.

Time

They say the greatest gift you can give any child is your time. So, take a weekend and dedicate it to some quality time. Let your child decide where they want to go, what they want to do, and make sure you take plenty of photographs to document that time spent together. You can have a photo book made so your child can look back on those fun memories.

Do you have any other gift ideas to add to this list?

5 Creative Ways to Use Cardboard Packaging Boxes

If you’ve just moved or bought tons of discount appliances during the Black Friday sale, you know how much of a struggle it can be dealing with all those boxes left behind. Chances are you have a lot of different boxes you don’t want to throw away but have no need for any more. Relax, so do thousands of other Americans. But what if you could use the boxes for creative purposes instead of having them gathering dust?

Cardboard boxes come in many styles and sizes, and all of them can be extremely useful if you know how to put them to use. If you want to repurpose those boxes instead of recycling them, in this article, we’ll give you a couple of creative ideas how you can use them.

Great Storage Alternative
Obviously, the best way to use old boxes is for storage. You could use boxes to store things like old magazines, personal files, clothes you can’t fit into or don’t need this season, dishes you only take out for special occasions, old toys or Halloween costumes and other items you don’t use every day.

Of course, you wouldn’t want old, dull-colored boxes to ruin the look of your home. That’s why you should decorate them a bit before repurposing them for storage. Use paint or decorative paper to breathe new life into those old boxes.

Old-Fashioned Toys
It’s hard to believe that children used to play with anything else other than smartphones once upon a time. Why not show them how kids used to play when times were simpler. Cardboard boxes make for excellent dollhouses, forts, playhouses or make-believe trains. You can also use them to build an obstacle course for a laser-tag game.

Boxes can also be used for a killer Halloween robot costume. All you need is a little bit of glue, spray color and a couple of markers. You could even go one step further and add led lights. The only limit is your imaginations.

Pets Love Boxes
Everyone knows cats and dogs both love boxes, and enjoy playing with them and taking a cozy nap there. They can be used to make great pet houses, but your cat will appreciate if you just leave it out like it is. The cardboard can also be used to create a cheap scratching post for your cat.

Christmas Gifts
Another fairly obvious choice is repurposing old cardboard boxes to create Christmas presents like those you see in commercials or on the Internet. A great part of the Christmas gift is getting to unwrap it, so why not do more than just wrap it in paper or put it in a fancy bag. Everyone, especially kids, will appreciate getting to unwrap a classic, bulky Christmas present.

Use them to Mail Items
The main purpose of any box is to protect the item that came with it, so why not use them as originally intended. If you mail a lot of stuff all through the year, you can use the cardboard to protect the items you’re sending. You can also use cut-out cardboard to protect photographs or documents you’re mailing.

Holiday Season Prep And Saving Money On Gifts

This is a sponsored post in partnership with CouponDash.com. All opinions are my own.

It's so crazy to think that in a couple months, the holiday season will begin. We have a tradition every year where we go and hang out on Halloween with close family-friends and we call it our 'kick-off to the holidays'. After that it seems like we all get into go-mode and the holiday hustle and bustle gets real. There is usually so much going on for all families with school events, football season, and family gatherings.

I find myself cooking and baking a whole lot once the weather gets cooler. There is something about that autumn air that gets me in the mood to be in the kitchen even more. Last year I bought an electric pressure cooker from Amazon and it has been my go-to appliance. I have been strongly considering getting a second one since I cook multiple foods for one meal most times. This would be extremely helpful during the holiday entertaining season as well since I can only cook so many dishes at one time on a four-burner stove. I am pretty sure I will be hosting Thanksgiving, so I will have to throw around a little *hint, hint* to my husband to get me another one of these beauties. 😍
I am so happy that I have Amazon Prime so I don't worry about paying for shipping. If you don't have it, be sure to take advantage of this free 30-day trial of Prime. Aside from cooking and baking during the holidays, I stock up on off-season goods. It's amazing how much marked-down merchandise is available in stores, especially one of my favorite places, Kohl's. I love using their shopping passes and getting Kohl's cash throughout the year. I get a thrill out of buying $800 worth of merchandise for as little as $200 and sometimes, even less! Also if you don't feel like weeding through the clearance racks, you can shop online and even get free shipping. This has become my new favorite way to shop!

The great part about clearance shopping is that some of the items can be given as gifts for the holidays. I am always down for saving money and spending as little as I can for gifts. I also like giving home baked goodies to friends and neighbors each year. They always look forward to what I send over every year. You can say that it has become a tradition! I am already looking at decorative mini loaf pans for some sort of pound cake. I know it seems so early to be thinking about all of this, but it's best to prepare early so you can fit some relaxation time in. After all, you don't want to miss out on quality time with your family and friends because you are making the mad dash at the last minute. Speaking of dash, be sure to stop by CouponDash.com for savings from tons of well-known retailers like K-Mart, Best Buy, Michaels and more. You can find pretty much any brand you are looking for and they have the coupons savings already set up for you.

Do you get ready for the holidays early? Do you have any good shopping techniques that are helpful? Please share below in the comments. Thanks for stopping by today.

8 Housewarming Gift Ideas Under $20

*This post contains affiliate links

If you are trying to figure what to give someone who is getting a new apartment or house, it can be a challenge. You don't always know a person's specific taste, color schemes or overall style. I like giving and receiving practical gifts that people will actually use. I have put together a list of great ideas that all cost under $20.

1. A cast iron skillet- I say it all the time that every person needs one of these in their kitchen. It's versatile and can be used to saute, fry, broil or bake just about anything savory or sweet. You can even include of of these silicone handle covers

2. Kitchen towels and dish cloths- You can go with neutral colors or even holiday-themed designs depending on what time of year you buy them. Anyone can use kitchen towels and I feel like you can't ever have enough of them.
3. A baking sheet- If you are buying for someone who bakes and cooks often, this is a must have! My favorite one that I have 2 of is the commercial baker's half sheet size. It's perfect for baking cookies, pastries, fish, chicken, and roasting veggies. I cover mine with foil and parchment for less clean-up.

4. An automatic soap dispenser- It can be used in either a bathroom or kitchen and is touch-free.

5. Stemless wine glasses- These are a no-brainer for your wine-loving friends. They come in different colors, shapes and sizes.

6. Wine cork holder- I have one of these and love it! It serves as a cute decoration for any living or dining area. Since they are affordable, you can even grab an inexpensive bottle of wine to go with it.

7. Glass storage containers- These are a better alternative to the plastic ones and can be used as storage for leftovers or even to take lunch to work or school.
8. A cutting board set- I love having a few different sized cutting boards for cutting specific items by group. One for meats, one for veggies, and one for fruit.

As we near the end of May, I'm reminded that June is the kick-off to summer and more importantly, Father's Day. My husband has been a father for over 2 decades and we make certain that he is celebrated to the fullest. This year we wanted to give him an extra special gift to show our appreciation for all of his hard work providing for our family, and for always being there for our children in any and every way he can. His dedication to our children is above and beyond what I've seen from many fathers in this time. One item I know he would love is a new watch. He is one of those men who must have a watch on his wrist at all times. I browsed watches online and came across some very unique ones from Wood Watches by Jord. Their watch bands are made out of wood, giving them a different look and feel.

I presented my husband with his early Father's Day gift and it brought a look of surprise to his face.

I'm pretty sure he said, "WOW" at least a dozen times. His first thoughts after getting over saying wow was that the watch was very different. He said that the wood finish was very nice and something that would be noticed. This was the first time either of us has seen a watch like this so there was a lot of admiring, and oohing and aweing going on. The little boy in him loved the see-through face that lets you see the mechanisms inside move. He was like a big kid! I admit, I was completely obsessed with it too!

This wood watch is packaged beautifully and is ready for gifting. His Jord Watch came in a wooden box that is perfect for storing, along with a cloth for keeping the watch face clean. Seriously, isn't it beautiful?

This particular style is from the Dover Series in Ebony & Redwood. The colors are so rich and go well with either dressed up attire or dressed down. I know my husband though, he will only want to wear this one with his suits dress outfits.

These wood watches from Jord are an exquisite choice for Father's Day gift giving. The prices and selection ranges to suit your budget and taste. The ordering process is so simple and they have a handy printable sizing guide to ensure you order the correct size. The actual shipping is super fast so there is plenty of time left to get that perfect gift.

Follow Jord on social media- Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest & Twitter. You should take a look around their site. I love all of the beautiful styles and color options. I am totally eyeing one for myself!

Jord Watches provided me with a product sample, but all opinions are my own as always.
