My $2 Find!

I was doing my usual shopping in Walmart this weekend and stumbled upon this gadget. I have seen it a few times before but didn't bother with it. It is a sandwich sealer and decruster. It is a frugal way to make your own 'UnCrustables' at home. You just start off with your 2 slices of bread, add your filling in the center (I used peanut butter and apricot preserves) and then your press the sandwich cutter down over your sandwich. You end up with a crust-less and sealed sandwich. It worked great! Glad I finally broke down and bought one. You can find them hanging in random places. I found mine on the aisle with the coffee. My only recommendation is to not over-fill your bread.

Carmex skin care line review | Giveaway

**Contest Closed**
Winner is #67 Julie Jones~ Congratulations!!

I received the latest Carmex Blog Squad goodies last week and they came right on time! The kit came with both Carmex Healing Lotion and Healing Cream in full-size tubes as well as the mini versions. I have tried both of them out in the past and love love love them! It has a very light scent that reminds me of playdough for some reason. They are non-greasy and emollient at the same time.

I am a big fan of the healing cream since the temperatures have dropped. My whole family's skin turns into reptile-like scales. Not cute at all! The cream is heavy enough to smooth my skin out and makes it feel and look softer instantly. These creams and lotions are available at Walgreens and CVS and I just found out that Walmart will start carrying it. That is great news since I go there at least once a week (just don't tell my husband that). Full-size tubes retail for about $5.99 and the mini ones for around $0.99. They would make perfect stocking stuffers and teacher gifts. I can just see a small tube of Carmex lotion for each teacher to keep in their desk.

The awesome folks at Carmex are allowing us to give away one Carmex skin care prize pack to one lucky Momfiles reader. The prize pack will include:

WTH? Wednesday | Coffee

Today's gripe is about coffee prices. Let me start out by saying that I am a coffee snob. I only like a couple brands and although I try others for the sake of saving a couple bucks, I end up regretting it. So I stick to my fancy coffee brands. My main coffee that I love comes in bigger bags at Walmart so I go there twice a month for it. It used to be $9.98 then $10.98, $11.98 (last week) and it is now a whopping $13.98!! WTH??!! There is no way I am spending that much. I know that everything has gone up price-wise but this seemed to be a bit too much. I looked around at other brands and I was floored to see even the cheaper ones were very expensive. What to do? Stop drinking it? We tried that before and failed miserably. I spotted an old school favorite that we used to drink exclusively in our Miami days.

Good old fashioned Cafe Bustelo. It was $3.88 a can. Hmm...$13.98 or $3.88? Yeah, Cafe Bustelo won the price battle. I told Dwayne he better get used to a couple espresso shots each morning. When I told him the cost difference he was completely with me. I even broke out my old stove-top espresso pot. Nothing like jet fuel to start your day! Y'all know Dwayne is going to get me for the product advertising!! Shh, don't tell on me! :D

If you have any WTH moments please share them in the comments!

Back-to-school with Walmart | Giveaway

**Contest Closed**
winner is lyndseyluvsjj

We are already almost halfway through the month of July and most of us will have to start buying back-to-school items for the kids. Walmart has always been our favorite place to purchase school supplies and lunch box items. Right now you can find almost 70 items at Walmart with 4 Box Tops for Education on the package. I have been saving up our Box Tops and donating them to the girls' schools ever since they were in kindergarten. For every Box Top you clip you earn your school 10 cents. You would be amazed how quickly they add up. Good thing for me is a lot of the snacks my kids like are participating products like Nature Valley, Cheerios, Yoplait and more. This is a great way to buy the brands my family loves as well as help out the school. It's like fundraising without any real work! You can see the complete list of participating products that have the Box Tops here.

Giveaway: I have a $25 Walmart gift card to give away to one lucky Momfiles reader to help get a jump on that back-to-school shopping.

To Enter:
Mandatory: Let us know what items you plan to buy from Walmart for back-to-school or which Box Tops items from General Mills you plan to purchase?

WTH Wednesday | Walmart edition

Most of you who read Momfiles regularly, are friends with me on Facebook or Twitter or if you know me personally then you know I am a regular Walmart shopper. I go in there about 2-3 times a week. Time after time I am faced with the ugly side of Walmart but I have learned to deal with it. Now today I greeted the cashier in my usual friendly way by saying "Hello, how are you?" She mumbled something and kept sucking her teeth and rolling her eyes. I obviously did not get the picture that she did not want to be bothered so I proceed to ask her how her day was going so far. Her response was "it's a day". What the hell kind of response was that? Meanwhile she goes back to her eye rolling, disgusted "I hate my job" attitude. I had some items that I had a FREE coupon for, meaning the items would not cost me anything. I even left those 3 items last and put the correct coupon on top of each item to make it easier for her (nice huh?) I also did it because Walmart cashiers treat me as if I am robbing the store when I present a coupon for something free. She then goes on to ring up the last items and scans the coupons. The items cost $2.89, $2.50 & $2.98. The coupon amounts she took off were $2, $2 & $1. Hmm, that doesn't make sense if they were for a FREE product right? I asked her about it and she rolls her eyes and tells me that they round coupons down to cover the tax. I was confused. I do know that Walmart has updated their coupon policy and I can understand most of the rules but not honoring a legit free coupon? What the hell! That is ridiculous and the fact that I have to deal with Ms. Attitude doesn't make it any better. She tells me that she does not agree with the policy and that Walmart must have gotten tired of giving things away for free. I just wanted to smack her. Walmart WILL get their money back when customers use coupons. What a freakin' crock! Needless to say I will NOT be buying anything that requires a coupon at Walmart and as a matter of fact I will be taking a break from giving them my money. In the famous words of Dwayne-- "Now that's some BULLS@#T!"
