{Giveaway} A New Spin on the Cookie Exchange: Host a Chex Party Mix-Change!

**Contest Closed** Winner is #56 paschadudley~ Congratulations!
The holiday season is upon us and this means we are attending parties and indulging in goodies and treats. Some of you might be attending a cookie-exchange party. They are a lot of fun and you end up with so many wonderful homemade cookies. The downside of cookies is the whole baking part. Chex Party Mix is changing the way we look at traditional baking with the Chex Party Mix-Change. You can skip the whole baking process and whip up yummy batches Chex Mix snacks in 15 minutes! I received a gift pack from MyBlogSpark that contained 2 boxes of Chex cereal, 5 recipe cards, 10 take-out containers and a $20 gift card to purchase items to make some yummy Chex Party Mix.
We made 2 varieties. We love sweets in my house so we went with the Muddy Buddies and Lemon Buddies. They were so easy to make and required very few ingredients. Lemon Buddies have become my new favorite and I highly recommend you try it for yourself. I will give you fair warning that they are addicting! Here is the recipe:

Lemon Buddies
9 cups Rice Chex® cereal
1 1/4 cups white vanilla baking chips
1/4 cup butter or margarine
4 teaspoons grated lemon peel
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 cups powdered sugar

1. Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside.
2. In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chips, butter, lemon peel and juice uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.
3. Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; gently shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper or foil to cool. Store in airtight container.

We decided that we will send in these Chex treats to the girls' teachers to get them through mid-terms before the Christmas break. I know they will love it! There are so many recipes that range from salty to sweet and even gluten-free. You can even tweak recipes and make them your very own!

We are giving away one Chex Party Mix-Change gift pack to one lucky Momfiles reader. The gift pack includes (pictured below): 2 boxes of Chex cereal to create Chex Party Mix recipes, 5 featured Chex Party Mix recipes, 10 takeout containers and a $20 gift card to purchase recipe ingredients and decorating supplies.

Back-to-school with Walmart | Giveaway

We are already almost halfway through the month of July and most of us will have to start buying back-to-school items for the kids. I have been saving up our Box Tops and donating them to the girls' schools ever since they were in kindergarten. For every Box Top you clip you earn your school 10 cents. You would be amazed how quickly they add up. Good thing for me is a lot of the snacks my kids like are participating products like Nature Valley, Cheerios, Yoplait and more. This is a great way to buy the brands my family loves as well as help out the school. It's like fundraising without any real work! Chex gluten-free cereal prize pack giveaway

**Contest Closed**

I received a fantastic Chex cereal prize pack to review. The prize pack included a VIP coupon for a free box of Chex cereal, a microwavable bowl, a Chex gluten-free recipe card and measuring spoons and cups.

5 of the Chex cereal varieties (Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Honey Nut Chex, Chocolate Chex, and Cinnamon Chex) have been reformulated to be gluten free and offer a great tasting, crunchy morning breakfast option. Aside from breakfast, Chex cereal is great for snacks on the go as well as a part of a yummy recipe. I remember making Chex party mix a lot as a teenager and adding extra chili powder to make it nice and spicy. I have recently sampled a chocolaty snack mix at a holiday get together that was so yummy (and I am not a big chocolate person). It was called Chex Muddy Buddies. I highly recommend it! You can find some awesome gluten-free recipes here.

My friends at Chex and MyBlogSpark are letting me give away one of these prize packs to one lucky Momfiles reader.

Here's how to enter: *Mandatory
~Tell us what your favorite Chex cereal variety is or what recipe you would like to make using Chex cereal. Comments that say "thanks" or "enter me" or the like do not count and will be deleted. Please include your email address if you do not have a Blogger profile.

~You can also gain additional entries by Tweeting or Facebooking this contest (twice daily). Just leave a link to your entry.

Eat your breakfast! General Mills Cereal Giveaway

I think it is believed by most parents that if you feed your children cereal for breakfast you are giving them too much sugar and calories. Well guess what?? This is not true!

Did you know that ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters? Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children’s diets.

Other cereal benefits:
  • Ready-to-eat cereals, including pre-sweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children’s diets.

  • Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child’s diet today.

  • More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.
Studies also demonstrate the benefits of eating breakfast. A
1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, children who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy. With 3 kids of my own and a busy schedule cereal is a great option during the school week. As a matter of fact we all love the Oatmeal Crisp in Crunch Almond and an old favorite, Lucky Charms! We sometimes have cereal for dinner!! I also believe that cereal is an economical option as well.

For more information about kids and cereals, please visit Cereal Health and Wellness.

Right now if you visit here you will find a $1 off coupon for one of four General Mills cereals, while supplies last.

Fundraising for school without the work

If you are a mom like me, you probably have participated in many fundraisers for school. I have tapered off how much I do over the years and have replaced it with Box Tops for Education. If you have been reading Momfiles long enough you would know that I have mentioned it quite a bit. We purchase tons of General Mills products each month and we make sure to save those little Box Tops so we can donate them to the kids' school. I subscribe to the Box Tops email list so I was recently offered a FREE collection box to store the Box Tops. Now I don't have to have them randomly floating around the kitchen in 50 different places including the infamous "junky drawer".
Now I can keep my collection box in my pantry so we all will know exactly where to keep our box tops!
