William's preschool updates

We are in the thick of things around here. Getting William prepared for school takes a great part of the day and sometimes I am ready to give up. He has become obsessed with the idea of going to kindergarten and asks me fifty million times a day if it is time to start yet. It gets tiring, but I guess it's good that he has such an interest in school, having a teacher and making friends. Speaking of friends, I remember about 2 years ago William was very anti-social when it came to being around other children. I was so afraid that he would never like kids his age!
Times have changed and he has become very social. Most people consider home schooled children to be less social but that is not the case here. William is very friendly and loves to be around other children. We went to Monkey Joe's the other day and there was a little boy around his age that was playing alone. William went up to him and introduced himself by saying "Hello, my name is William" and he gave the boy a handshake! The little boy was very shy but eventually warmed up and played with William. His mother was so grateful that William made her son feel comfortable in the environment. She was also very amazed when she found out that William was only four. She said that he was mature beyond his years. I do get that a lot from people. William is very mature and disciplined for his age (and gender). We are so proud of how well he is developing in all areas and can't wait for school to start next year. I think he will do just fine!

Get Simply-fied with Simply Potatoes | Review & Giveaway

**Closed** Winner is karenmed409
I can't believe it is already November and the holiday season is just about knocking at our door! One thing that goes for most of us is that we become time crunched. I do my best to make sure my family has everything they need and that includes cooking up fresh, yummy meals.
One of my favorite staples during the holiday season is the Simply Potatoes line of products. We are big potato lovers in our house and you can't beat having them already peeled, chopped or shredded! I do a few breakfast/brunch gatherings each year and I love the easy, no fuss preparation of Simply Potatoes Shredded Hash Browns.
It is so easy to cook. All you do is heat up your pan, add a little oil and cook according to the simple package directions. I love to add a little bit of Cajun seasoning and cracked black pepper to give it a little kick. The neat thing is that you can add anything you like to make it your own.
We are big on having breakfast for dinner and Simply Potatoes hash browns is the best part! I have cooked up 2 bags at one time on my big cast iron griddle and it really makes it crispy and brown. There are so many varieties of Simply Potatoes items to choose from. Besides the line of cut and shredded potatoes there are also mashed potatoes, Steamables and side dishes. These are truly a great convenience since you can use them in recipes or prepare them straight out the package.
One lucky Momfiles reader will win a coupon good for one FREE Simply Potatoes product. Enter below:
a Rafflecopter giveaway

Giveaway is open to US Residents only and will end on November 9, 2012. One winner will be chosen at random and will be contacted via email. Momfiles is not responsible for any lost or stolen prizes. Good luck!

I received FREE product coupons to facilitate my review. All thoughts/opinions are always my own.

The artist of the house, Brie

Our daughter Brie is such an outstanding artist. She had to draw a horse's eye for an art assignment and it blew us all away with how realistic it looks! She is in an advanced art class that she was recommended to be in from her teacher last year. She wasn't going to take the class at first, but decided to keep it. I am glad she did! There is no need to waste pure talent like that. Great job Brie!

PLEASE HELP: Watch a video and help a child! vitaminwater® ♥s Vitamin Angels

Hey guys! I wanted to share some very important information that was sent to me....

As a parent, you know how important it is that your little ones are properly nourished in order to thrive. It’s that reason exactly that vitaminwater® ♥s Vitamin Angels, a charity dedicated to providing essential nutrients to undernourished children around the world.  vitaminwater® is already helping Vitamin Angels reach more than 2 million children through a monetary donation, but would like your support to help  them  reach another one million children!

Earlier this summer and in an effort to help spread the word about Vitamin Angels, vitaminwater® asked the Tongal community (a social platform that delivers a fresh solution to sourcing video content) what their world would be without the letter ‘A’.  Why ‘A,’ you ask?  Vitamin Angels focuses on this vitamin because an estimated 190 million children under five suffer from vitamin A deficiency, a major underlying cause of child mortality and blindness around the world.

The response from the Tongal community was overwhelming (over 400 ideas submitted!) and resulted in the creation of three poignant videos in particular that vitaminwater® has decided to share.  For every view of one of the videos, vitaminwater® will donate $0.25, the equivalent of one year’s worth of vital Vitamin A for a child.

Here are the videos:

"Without the A" produced by Reggie Schickel from Urbana, IL (based on idea from Diana Tay from Los Angeles, CA)

"Candid Moments Without the A" produced by Marcus Thomas from Los Angeles, CA (based on an idea from Jacob Silva from Escondido, CA)

"Notes on the Letter A" produced by Jonathan Langager from Los Angeles, CA

PLEASE take a moment to view even one video to help a child in need! They are under 2 minutes in length and costs you NOTHING! Thanks so much!
