I am going all the way gray

I am one of those women who started going gray since I was in high school. Actually, some of my hair is a sparkling silver to be exact. I used to freak out and pull a strand here and there that I felt was visible. Being that my hair is jet black, the silver really shines through. I have never colored my hair before and quite frankly can't see myself with any color other than what's natural. I was at a political fundraiser recently when I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely lady Mrs. Francis Finney (One of her sons is running for Solicitor in 4 surrounding counties). She was there to support her son and had such poise and grace about herself. I had an instant connection with her the minute we started chatting and I fell in love with her silver locks! Then it hit me. I figured it out... I am not going to ever color my hair. I will let it go gray and embrace what I think is natural beauty.

Mrs. Finney's husband, Chief Justice Ernest Finney was just as lovely a person. I was chatting with him and apologizing for my husband AKA the paparazzi! He was as sweet as can be and told me he did not mind being photographed. They are the epitome of how I view myself to be when I am in my golden years!

Haircut decision

I posted on Facebook a few weeks ago for suggestions from my friends on how they think I should get my hair cut/styled. I got comments ranging from short and sassy to leave it the way it is. I even had one old friend tell me that even if I went bald I would still look amazing. Of course I don't want to know if that would be true so I asked the husband. He generally gives me the same answer every time- "Do what makes YOU happy". Of course that is the worse answer you can give me. This time he actually gave me a much different answer. He told me that he wanted my hair to still be long and layered because he loves how his woman looks so exotic. Well, since Big Daddy has spoken, long and sexy it will be!

Smokey eyes

Can anyone recommend a good website that offers directions on how to accomplish the "smokey eye" look? I also prefer not to have to spend a load of money on the make-up because y'all know my husband is broke! LOL! Also does anyone know a site I can shop hairstyles that allows me to upload a photo to see what the styles look like? If you would please leave me a link or two I would so very much appreciate it! Oh yeah and they have to be for FREE. Once again, y'all know who my husband is!!! Thanks :-)

Bawbi has a new look

The temperatures this week in Columbia, South Carolina have been in the miserable 100's. Actually it has been that way for much of the Summer. This is no fun when you carry around what feels like a fur coat on top of your head. The fur coat I speak of would be my hair. I have been growing it out for about a year now so that I could donate it to Locks of Love. I have always wanted to do it but either my hair was too short, too layered or the one time we had a ponytail incident that messed up my chance to donate it. Let's just say that you should not play pass the ponytail. It could get real messy! Here are some photos of what my hair looked like before:

It sounded like my hair stylist was sawing through my hair! It took an entire minute to cut the ponytail off. There were a few other ladies waiting for their appointment and they all sat there nervously watching me get all my hair hacked off. I was the only one that was happy. Everyone else thought I was nuts.

I knew I had a lot of hair but did not realize it was that much!
After losing about 15 inches, this is the end result:
