As planning for the coming spring season begins, The Old Farmer’s Almanac is releasing a new tool focused on one of the most closely watched markers of spring: the last spring frost.
The 2026 Last Frost Date Map looks beyond traditional historical averages to show how the timing of the final spring freeze may differ this season. By blending the Almanac’s 2026 long-range weather predictions with farm, yard, and garden expertise, the map refines last frost timing specifically for this year. See more at Almanac.com/Frost-2026.
The color-coded map shows whether frost is expected to end earlier, close to average, or later than normal:
Green — Earlier Than Normal
- Plant earlier than usual
Yellow — Near Normal
- Plant as usual
Blue — Later Than Normal
- Delay planting
“In spring, even small shifts in frost timing can have an outsized impact,” said Catherine Boeckmann, Executive Digital Editor of The Old Farmer’s Almanac. “This map adds focused insight around one of the season’s most consequential thresholds.”
