Getting things together

This is going to be one of those very random posts so here I go... First of all I have made a decision to deactivate my Facebook account for at least a week. Most people are in shock and wonder why. It's simply for me to take a little more time to focus on everyday tasks as well as work on some things that I have neglected. I am assisting Dwayne with his business and I need to get a good sense of organization and planning. My office is in shambles so obviously I need to get cracking on that ASAP.

My toddler son is curious and very fast. I can't take my eye off of him for even a minute. He found a glass that way left out that contained a little bit of leftover adult beverage and thankfully it spilled before he could take a sip. That was a bit of an eye opener that once again organization is needed.

With Christmas on it's way I have all these lavish plans to bake bake bake. I plan to do just that. I had to come up with a good teacher gift idea for over 12 teachers that would not break the bank account. I decided on making some mini lemon pound cakes and presenting them nicely wrapped in cellophane and fancy tissue paper. I might even go the extra step of printing out homemade gift tags with the recipe attached. I will post photos once I complete them so you can see how they turned out. I might just post the recipe as well.

The biggest thing I want to do is take time daily to stop and smell the roses. Life is not as complicated as we make it. Simple is good :)

  1. I understand about getting off facebook for a bit. It can be very time consuming, especially if you are on other sites as well. Hope you get all you want accomplished!

  3. Yes, smell those roses.
I thought this morning, when I was rushing Jaimen to hurry and get out of the car to walk into daycare, why? He was just scanning the floor of the car to see if he could see any toys left there, he has to bring a toy everyday and he leaves them in the car when we get out... eventually there are 5 toys in the car. Anyways I thought "Why do I rush him All The Time?" Somethings shouldn't be rushed. I need to stop and admire the time he takes to do things, because one day he'll be in a rush to grow up and I will never get this back... So, Jaimen... take 2 minutes tops to scan the car for lost toys, I will watch you with a smile :)

Sorry for the long comment, but I completely agree with your post :) Good luck!

  8. My facebook account is like a roller coaster. I activate it and deactivate it regularly. You deserve a break to get things in perspective. I can't wait until Christmas break (I'm a teacher). I'm going to use those two weeks off work to try to organize my house. Happy Baking!

  9. It sounds like you're doing the right thing. Everyone deserves a break, especially moms. A lot of people believe that just because you're a mom it's not work. So very untrue!

Here the kids used to be really bad about just helping themselves to whatever drink was set down, adult beverage or not. One day they took a sip of the wrong drink, spit it out really fast and have never done it since then. We also don't drink when the kids are awake to keep from it happening again. Freak out moment!!

We'll miss you! See you when you have a little more time. :) HUGS!!!!!!

  10. Sometimes it is so refreshing to take a break...I love when I forget my cell phone (on accident of course) because then I am free to do what I want without interruptions! ;)

  11. Well you KNOW I get it! How many times in the past six months have I had to do some sort of re-evaluation or check-out-of-cyberspace to get myself in check! The fact that you recognize it and are taking the time to do it speaks volumes! Good for you!
