Spring cleaning and decluttering our Family Room

There’s just something about spring that makes everything feel a little lighter. The days get longer, the windows start opening, and suddenly all you want to do is freshen up your space. It’s the season of clearing out the clutter, reorganizing the little corners you ignored all winter, and giving your home that reset it’s been quietly begging for.

I always find myself in that mood this time of year. One minute I’m swapping out heavy blankets, and the next I’m deep into drawers, closets, and those random catch-all spots that somehow collected everything over the past few months. It’s not just about cleaning either. It’s about creating a space that feels calm, functional, and a little more put together.

And let’s be honest, sometimes all it takes is one small change to make a room feel completely different.

As I started working my way through our family room, I realized how much of our everyday clutter tends to collect in the same spots. Remotes, chargers, random cords, coasters, you name it. It’s the space we use the most, which also means it’s the easiest to let slide during the busier months. Spring felt like the perfect excuse to finally get it together and make it feel a little more intentional.

I didn’t want to do a full overhaul or spend a ton of time rearranging furniture. I just wanted something simple that would help keep things contained and look a little more pulled together at the same time. You know that feeling when one small change suddenly makes a space feel calmer and more functional? That was exactly what I was going for.

So I added this piece right next to our seating area, and it immediately made a difference. It gave us a dedicated spot for all the little things that used to float around the room, and I love that everything now has a place instead of piling up. It’s compact enough to fit in a tighter space, but still manages to be incredibly useful, which is always a win in a busy family room.

One of my favorite things is how it helps keep the surface looking clean even when we’re actually using it all day long. There’s a spot to tuck things away when I want things to look neat, and the extra storage underneath has been surprisingly handy too. It’s one of those pieces that quietly does a lot without demanding attention.

And I have to mention how convenient the built-in charging ports and outlet have been. Instead of cords stretching across the room or everyone asking where to plug something in, everything is right there and easy to reach. It’s one of those features you don’t realize you need until you have it, and now I can’t imagine going back. It feels like one of those small upgrades that makes daily life just a little bit easier.

You can find this flip top end table at Walmart for under $90. It is easy to assemble, and really is so functional while looking modern and clean. I was gifted this piece to try, which made this spring refresh even more fun, and I’m genuinely loving how it fits into our space.
