New at Walmart: Rooster Potatoes ($25 Visa GC Giveaway)

Who loves potatoes? I know I do! Most people might say that all potatoes are alike, but I have to disagree. I was shipped a fresh box of Rooster Potatoes from Albert Bartlett to test out. What was so special about these Rooster potatoes is that they came from their very first harvest!
About Rooster Potatoes:

The Rooster potato is not a russet or a red potato - what makes the Rooster potato so unique is its fresh, nutty and buttery taste - it stands apart from other potatoes.

-The Rooster potato starts pink, but bakes golden brown, with a light yellow fluffy flesh
-A most versatile potato that can be baked, boiled, mashed, roasted, or fried  -  so great for any comfort food dish or cooking with kids!
-Affordable & accessible to everyone by being sold at Walmart (vs new epicurean specialty veggies typically only found in a Whole Foods-esque store)
-Healthy : contain fiber, vitamin C, B6, iron, potassium and many more minerals and vitamins
-Grown in the US for the first time, farmers stamp each bag they harvest for consumers to see, and you can 'meet the farmers' too
-Naturally : Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Cholesterol Free, Fat Free, Vegan

My thoughts:

I cooked my Rooster potatoes on two different occasions. The first time was for breakfast. I made a rustic fried potato dish that was so good, it was the highlight of the meal. I washed the potatoes off and left the skins on. Next I cut them in cubes and parboiled in salted water until almost tender and drained them. Last, I heated some oil up a cast iron skillet and added my potatoes along with my favorite seasonings. I let them get nice and golden brown and served them with eggs over medium.
The potatoes melted in my mouth. They tasted buttery and creamy at the same time. Truly the perfect potato! My family really enjoyed them as well. I have also prepared some classic mashed potatoes and they were superb! I am all about a high quality potato and Albert Bartlett Rooster potatoes have exceeded my expectations.

These potatoes can be found at Walmart for about $2.97/2.2lb. bag and $3.97/4.4lb. bag. This is a great price when you compare the other premium brands.
