You are a freakin adult!!!

If you have a Facebook account you might notice a trend in grown folks behavior. Some ppl Lyke 2 tYPe liKe dis nd SpElL LykE dis. If you are a teenager then I will give you a little bit of a pass. Now when you are a parent of teenagers then you just have a problem. If you take so much time to purposely misspell words and think you are cool, you thought WRONG. I have asked my teenagers what they think about adults doing it and they thought it was tacky and very uncool. They even think it's stupid for their own friends to do it. The older one told me if I ever did that on Facebook she would delete me from her friends list! Let me not get started on some of the very risque photos that are being posted. I see this with people that have their own kids on their friend's list. Hmm, don't go into politics ;)

My point to this post is that your children watch you and tend to follow in your foot steps (bad or good). Don't you find it your responsibility to be a good role model? There comes a time that we all have to grow up already! Not saying you need to break out the walking cane and Geritol just act your age.

  1. I could not agree with you more! I have deleted people who TYpE lIkE dis and say things like koo (cool) or skoo (school). So very annoying. My daughter was never even allowed to speak slang to me, I will be dog-on if I have to read it.

  2. OOPS! I am guilty of abbreviating words especially if I am rushing or have a space limit (twitter is the worst) and I know that I am guilty of doing this. You're RIGHT. I need to grow up. I can't help but, sing the Toys R US commercial. I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys R Us Kid. LOL

Love you Shelly!!!! Please don't delete me from your facebook or twitter!

  3. Amen to this. Even on Twitter, I try to change my phrasing rather than misspell or mangle the words (doesn't always work).

  4. Gosh, Shelly, you could have just emailed me about it! *pouts*

When I say things like "Mah" instead of "My" I'm trying to project my Southern accent.

    Please don't unfriend me!

  5. you are SOOOOOOO right! i especially have no tolerance for: l8ter, 2mrw, b4, wat, sum, etc. when i get crap like this in a text or email, my mind instantly shuts off.

slang is one thing. this is just plain annoying and unnecessary

  6. As long as we don't type "YOUR" the best we're good right? :-)

  7. I often use abbreviations on fb but it depends on what I am talking about. As long as I can decipher what is being typed I am okay with it. Adults and children and teens tend to use different abbreviations.

I am more concerned about adults using text language shorthands in everyday speach

  8. Couldn't have said it better myself. I have a few friends that fall in this category, and it drives me nuts!

  9. Shorthand is fine in text and on Twitter but the sticky caps, Zzz, and whatnot makes me wanna vomit.

  10. Sadly, some folks type like they speak. I get a headache reading some folks statuses.

  11. The thing that gets me the most is the upper and lower case in the same word. That irks the mess out of me!!
